Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff introduces Scott Arniel as new head coach | FULL

The Winnipeg Jets formally introduced their new head coach Monday.

Not that Scott Arniel needs an introduction in Winnipeg.

The 61-year-old, who was named head coach, replacing the now-retired Rick Bowness, has a long history with hockey in the Manitoba capital.

As a player, Arniel was drafted 22nd overall in 1981 by the first incarnation of the NHL Jets, and played for the team twice in his pro career. At the end of his pro career, Arniel also played three seasons for the Manitoba Moose.

Now that the Winnipeg Jets have their new head coach, an important next step will be whom Scott Arniel chooses to be part of his support staff.

It’s pretty much a given Wade Flaherty will continue on as the Jets’ goaltending coach, a position he has held since the franchise relocated from Atlanta in the spring of 2011.

But what about Brad Lauer and Marty Johnston? And with Arniel moving up the ladder, whom does he replace himself with?
