  1. Rumour has it Mitchkov wanted to be drafted by Philadelphia. So Montreal taking him with his contract uncertainty and possible unwillingness to play in Montreal was too great of a risk.

  2. I never wanted Michkov because there are way to many reports of him being a total a-hole and to me character is way more important then talent. I wanted Leonard but I'm good with Reinbacher, they have done way more homework then I have.

  3. I mean moving up two spot in this range would have been a lot more expensive. Like late 1st or very early 2nd or a good prospect.

  4. LOL! No. Flyers wanted to trade up to 5 to ensure they selected Michkov. Flyers were doing a lot of smokescreening. No one knew they had Michkov in Voorhees for a secret meeting.

  5. I think you’re misunderstanding the situation.
The Flyers wanted to acquire the 5th overall pick from the Habs in exchange for Cutter Gauthier so they could select Reinbacher AND Michkov. They didn’t value Reinbacher more than Michkov, they just knew that no matter what Michkov would be available for them at 7. Michkov was their guy 100%.
Cutter Gauthier had already made it clear he didn’t want to play for the Flyers so they trade to maximize the value of a disgruntled player & acquire a promising D prospect along with their generational talent.
Also there are rumours that Michkov had told the Canadiens that he didn’t want to play for them (I’m not sure if I believe them but there are people who make the claim… which if they’re true, you’d think Kent Hughes would share that to soften the blow of fan outrage but whatever) but if that’s true than this whole concept is just kind of ridiculous & framing it in a way that Montreal could’ve traded Reinbacher for Michkov is (I’m sorry) just stupid. Why would they trade a player that they just drafted or were about to draft for a player that they literally STILL COULD HVE DRAFTED?!
I also don’t buy that the other teams that wanted to trade up wanted David Reinbacher. I think Nashville 100% wanted Michkov too.

  6. I heard Philly offered Cutter Gauthier for Montreal's pick 5 and that the Flyers wanted to take Reinbacher at 5 before Arizona did at 6 then the Flyers would of used their own pick at 7 so Flyers would of got both Reinbacher and Michkov. But Montreal wanted Reinbacher and rejected the trade offer for Cutter Gauthier.

  7. Those who liked the pick say Reinbacher will be a good 3rd defense. I mean you can’t make this up picking a support player over a potential superstar.
