Now there are two coaching vacancies (PP which was never filled and PK which Yeo worked)

Going to be interesting to see who gets brought in.

*Keep an eye on JD Forrest for one of the openings. He was a long time coach in the Pens AHL system and was recently fired. Before the Malholtra hiring there was a lot of speculation that he would be picked to coach Abby given his obvious connection to this front office.

  2. The team certainly needs to work on their PP
PK got better but was still not good against the Oilers series.
Interesting to see who they hire

Tocc just out competing his competition for the head coaching job. Maybe we should make the Sedins share the job of asst coach

  4. GoldenChest2000

Need a dedicated PP assistant (maybe the Sedins?). If we keep Lindholm & land Toffoli there will be too much talent for the PP to be as ineffective as it was in the playoffs

  5. My guess is he probably interviewing or getting one of those vacant head coaching jobs.

  6. This is a little puzzling to me. He was in charge of the pk, and that really wasn’t an issue this year. Maybe he’s getting a promotion elsewhere?

Anyone think we’ll see one (or both?)of the twins behind the bench or will they stay in development/skills role?

  8. br0ckH4rd

I feel like he was a big part in why we didn’t see any coaches challenges during the playoffs

  9. Hey, I think it was sunny in the lower mainland today, no?

  10. Puravida1904

Too bad, the PK was excellent this year. I’m guessing he is looking at other opportunities… I’d argue he’s a bit overqualified as an assistant

Is somebody going to hire Yeo for a head coach position?

  12. I will remember Mike Yeo for always looking confused on his ear piece and for being bald

  13. PaperMoonShine

This guy had a shoddy track record coming in and I was always uncomfortable that we hired him. Kudos to him and the work he did, he definitely changed my opinion of him.

  14. DrexellGames

Canucks are starting to become the second version of the Penguins with JR hiring his guys in Toc, Gonc, PA etc

  15. JoeyLoganoHexAccount

    Newell Brown, where you at?

(for legal reasons this is a joke)

  16. NerdPunch

I remember Yeo took a lot of flak, and I was thinking… are people really upset we have an *assistant coach* with well over 1000 NHL games under his belt and head coaching experience?

  17. hannah_nj

Alex Burrows YOU are a member of the Canucks’ coaching staff!

  18. JTMilleriswortha1st

Bald per/60 has went down what a shame 🙁

  19. Tiger23sun

Hope they get a legit special teams coach. Need to improve both the Penalty Kill and the Powerplay.

  20. ProfitMuhammad

Maybe Jeremy colliton is coming back in a bigger role? If he doesn’t land a head coaching gig somewhere soon, maybe that’s the next step for him.

  21. intelligentx5

Put the Sedins on the bench and give one the PK and the other the PP

  22. DMyourboooobs

Good. The dude was the worst part of that coaching staff.

  23. WingleDingleFingle

Didn’t like the hire when it happened and am glad he is gone. The PK was great this year but the powerplay was enemic. Someone else will hire him for some reason.

  24. smcfarlane

It’s a lot easier to have a consistently good PP when you have a bomber at the point.
