Karlsson kept turning it over lol clowns
Well said, Nick!
I would rather a new 3c than 2c but i don't see an issue moving him to wing in the future. With the addition of bunting though, im not sure its necessary now. You just have to surround him with the right pieces. rak and smith were terrible and anchored to him most season.
Penguins seriously need to consider Brenden Dillon, I know his history playing against us makes him an enemy but he has history with Erik Karlsson he was one of his best D partners of his career, heās big, defensive minded, plays with some dirt, he makes the other team scared, look at it this way, if we make playoffs this year and we play say the rangers, who on our team would stop or deter a player like Jacob Trouba from head hunting Crosby or Kalrsson, Dillon wouldnāt stand for it and he is defensively valuable on top of that, he also had a career high in goals this past year
Two things about 71. He shows up when HE wants to show up and penalty minutes. Do we hoestly think he plays a 200 ft game every shift? I've watched every game for about 15-16 years. My answer… hell no.
He's got twice as many sin bin mins as 87. It's an easy formula: Piss off 71, he retaliates and sits for 2. Over and over and over, for his entire career. The amount of time, over 1100+ mins, on the PK. Think about how many opportunities the Pens could've had instead of killing off 71's penalties. Still among the best? Come on. Are we being slightly biased?
Marty Necas would be outstanding next to Bunting and Malkin. Plus Necas is a killer on the PP. They should be in on this āNecas wanting to leave Carolinaā situation.
Why do most people only look at stats when it comes to players like 71, 65 & 58. These guys are terrible at puck management, situational awareness and they only rely on their skills. Relying on skills only can be great at times, but to me that tells me a player most of the time doesnāt think the game very well & cheat too much. When you cheat a player most likely are out of position, these 3 gifted players can be fun/entertaining to watch, but also extremely infuriating at least to me they are. No stops & starts with 71, itās just fly byes & big loops. Watch when he doesnāt have the puck, he very rarely engages the opponent to take the puck from them and his stick is rarely in a defensive position, usually holding it almost knee high..extremely low hockey IQ.
I was ok with trading one or both of 71 & 58 after the 2018 season. 58 had a disastrous playoffs that year and honestly 71 only shows up when he wants to & these days itās when mom & dad are in town. His body language has always been terrible & for the past 4 or 5 yrs he looks like he isnāt very motivated to prove anything. Also, WHY!? Is he still positioned at the point on the PP!!!? Big body and canāt be a net front presence? All he accomplishes (mostly) is high risk telegraphed passes to 65 & 58 or shoots the puck into the PKers shin pads (65 & 58 do that a lot too). If he happens to get a puck through itās usually a harmless floater.
So a solid 2nd line center (yay points) who appears to have a hard time driving his line, never seems to have very much chemistry with his wingers & honestly looks like he never communicates with them very well either. Itās difficult playing on a line with someone like that (along with the negative body language) who plays a style of hockey more suitable for pond hockey. How many times do i let a lone his wingers need to watch him skate 4 or 5 laps around the perimeter in the offensive zone only to take a fadeaway floater at the blue linešššš. Iām sorry but these are the types of issues that doesnāt make me a Geno fan overall & itās one of the bigger reasons why we couldnāt get out of the first round since 2018 & missed the playoffs for 2 yrs in a row. But people seem to think Jarry is a bigger reason whyš.
Now Daddy Dubas had to go and fetch a 10million dollar player who plays much like 71 & 58, just doesnāt make any sense. Like i told my brother when we acquired 65 last year & he agreed..we werenāt making the playoffs this year. Hextall made a mess and i think Daddy Dubas is making his own mess, but Jarryš
How many goals against would Malkin have gotten primary or secondary assist on because of his bumbling passing? He should have been traded two to three years ago.
Glad hear someone defending Malkin. He's been my favorite player ever since he came on the team. I can't stand the hate he gets
Like it or not, Geno is still score. Donāt like it? Geno is still score. Want him traded? Well, Geno will be score where ever he goes too
I also thought he looked off throughout the season, but i severely disagree with the hate towards him. I thought putting up 27 goals this year was still really good. His point total wouldve been higher along with EK if the powerplay was even average. I'll always defend Geno ā¤
Slow, no energy, little engagement at defence, lost his PP blast from the point. Great that he is 5-6 in point among 2nd line centers. But the guy has all the starts in offensive zone, he is not top 30 second line centers in terms of defence, and his team is out of playoffs for two seasons in a row. Stephenson, OāReilly or Kadri scores less, but these are players you win with. And look at Dallas, their centers are nowhere near 100 point mark, but these guys are on a run right now. It is not only about points, it is about a lot of things
I love Malkin I truly do. Comparing him to second line centers I believe speaks to his regression. The power play was very bad. My hate towards Malkin has always been his contract. Makes the same as Crosby. Heās always needed line mates. Crosby makes career 3rd liners into top six forwards. The decision making, tossing passes across the blue line, his temper and bad penalties and his watching him give up on back checks. Huge part of our team couldnāt have done it without him but frustrating also. Karlsson is killing us and I donāt hear about it. He has to score 100 points because he will be responsible for 50 against us. I saw a play where Jarry moved it to the corner for him. He stopped looked at Jarry like I donāt do that and the puck ends up in the net seconds later.
