ceremony for his 1,000th game in the NHL I’m very excited for tonight Skinner has been one of my favorite players to watch as a saber especially during this playoff drought we’ll talk about Skinner his career surviving Ralph Krueger G reminisce on that period of Skinner’s career and also what’s ahead he’s got three years left on his contract and I think that there is a pretty interesting debate over if there’s anything to do with Skinner in the future whether or not he’ll see the end of his contract with the Sabers or even one after that we’ll get to all that coming up here on the locked on Sabers podcast if you want to check out the text line be sure to go to joins sub text.com lockon saers where you can reach out to us that way uh had a couple of people reaching out about their favorite Skinner memories of course uh top of the list this might maybe is going to be the 10 game win streak goal in 2018 against the San Jose Sharks my favorite that I posted on Twitter a little bit earlier on today uh at sneaky Joe Sports was Skinner last year in Detroit getting all the Red Wings chasing him around Dylan Lin the captain of the Red Wings gave up on the play as Henry Yoki Haru scored to go after Skinner and Skinner celebrating in his face while Lin is going after him is just pure gold there are chirps right there’s a v there’s a video from a couple years ago of Skinner chirping zido charara along the bench and there’s a lot of other stuff um of course that’s extracurricular but there’s a lot of goals 100 and 53 goals for the Sabers in six seasons it’s been six years uh that he has been here it’s been a long time and if we start all the way back at the beginning remember the trade for Jeff Skinner it is a a huge win of a trade I mean just not even not even competitive at all the Sabers traded a second round pick a third round pick a sixth round pick and Prospect Cliff Pooh for Jeff Skinner who never became an NHL player not even close in fact didn’t even become an AHL player he was ECHL and then left for the KHL and the Hurricanes did get Peter coek off their young goenda picks so maybe one of the picks develops into a real player for Carolina but otherwise they got pretty much nothing they got nothing back uh until you know I shouldn’t say nothing they got a goalie out of it that’s just starting his career for them but the Sabers got a player that has been one of their best goal scorers for four of the six seasons if you look at where he’s ranked every year on the team when it comes to goals scored even this year seen as a down year for Jeff Skinner where’s he ranking goals third third on the team in goals where did he rank last year third on the team in goals only behind tuck and Thompson how about the year before that the first Don Grado year second on the team in goals Krueger years we don’t count Krueger years we do not count the first year under Phil Howley he was first so first second third third in the seasons where he’s actually been allowed to score goals which is what happened under Phil Howley and then even more so uh under Don Granado Skinner’s career has been long here and I believe that he’s going to go down as a great Buffalo saber I I don’t think there’s any way around it I don’t think he’s going to be an alltime an alltime great I do think those could be two different things I don’t think he’s going to go down with any sort of Legend status um I don’t think he’s certainly not his number retired anytime soon I is he even a Sabers Hall of Fame assuming they still want to do that I know the Sabers Hall of Fame has been on and off for the organization for a decade plus um maybe he sneaks into the Hall of Fame but he’ll be a he’ll look back in time and he will be a great Buffalo saber when you look at the all-time lists of where he is for goals especially even strength goals even more so but goals scored for the sabers he’s already 18th all time more than Drew Stafford Jack eel joen HH Max ainov Jim Loren uh Pierre Turon Dale Howard chuk Curtis Brown Lindy Tyler Enis Michael Pekka he Danny Brier I mean longevity is why he’s over some of those guys especially guys like Brier he’s only five goals behind Pat LaFontaine that guy’s number is in the rafters he absolutely played fewer games than anybody else um Skinner’s at 153 goals and I would argue he’s got a shot of getting into the top five it’s an outside shot it’s a very unlikely shot that likely requires a second contract uh with the Buffalo Sabres he is at 153 fourth alltime Danny gar is 114 goals above him that’s a lot right it’s probably not going to happen especially if we are wondering about a decline that would need a second contract to get to four cuz you’re averaging about 38 goals a year you need a couple of 30 goal Seasons you got to come back for maybe a year or two after that and then maybe you got a very small chance at getting the fourth but he’s going to be high is if it’s not going to be probably in the top five again there’s a small chance of that but he’s going to be I think top 10 I would say 10th right now in Sabers history and goals is Jason pominville with 27 and if you give Skinner three more seasons in order to get to um 217 he needs 64 more goals so he needs to average about 31 32 goals a year he might need a big year like a high 30 goal season and then a couple of high 20s uh to get there and maybe that could be the way he gets one more season but I think there’s a really good shot that he gets into the top 10 all time and if not you know he’ll pass guys to GL Fontaine Derrik Roy Phil Howley maybe even Alexander mcy and he’ll be up there all time in Sab goals um he is a player that I have always had fun watching because he’s just a pure goal scorer last year withstanding last year he really really became a playmaker and that was the only time that’s ever really happened I mean I would not expect that in his career he’s going to repeat that he is someone that is a shoot first player he is very opportunistic he’s not the type of player that’s going to generate a lot of his own offense you’re not going to catch him going Coast to Coast or generating his own chances by carrying it in from the neutral zone he likes someone else to carry it into the neutral zone get to the open areas make it easy for a playmaker to find him or if he thinks the guy’s going to go to the net he’s very good at cashing in around the Around the Net in front as well so you know he’s a different type of goal scorer than some of the guys that you might be used to uh in other you know saber teams and other teams around the league and again he’s not a good defensive player but he’s just as consistent as it gets when it comes to goal scoring and when you look back at his career which started in 2010 with the Carolina Hurricanes i p mentioned this yesterday as an 18-year-old rookie that was selected seventh overall very rare that that happens I know we just saw it was Zack Benson and then won The Calder when that happened Skinner 282 even strength goals since he entered the NHL 13 years ago there are only six players in the league that have more than than that that’s it Alex oetkin Patrick Kane John Tas Steven stampco Sydney Crosby and Brad Marshon that’s it he is more than everybody else more than Evy Malin more than Tyler Sean more than uh Max petti Nathan McKinnon and Conor McDavid some of the newer guys more than Jamie Ben more than Joe pavelski Nikita kucherov Claude jaru Vladimir tereno Logan ker Phil kessle an copar Patrice berson JN T I mean I can keep going the the list goes on and on and on he is one of the best even strength goal scorers in the NHL in the last decade Plus for both Carolina and for the Sabres and by the way he’s at 282 in that stretch and Kane’s at 296 he’s only 14 behind Kane and if Ral Krueger was never the head coach I guarantee you he would be in second place on that list in the last 14 years really cool night I don’t know what we’ll get between two stalls is going to be featured the uh the comedy show that they put together last year which is always good they have a new special episode that Tage Thompson and Alex tuck hosted with Skinner as the guest find that on the sabers YouTube page it’s really good um I I know that will be incorporated I don’t know what else we’re going to get we’re gonna just family and friends of course it’s gonna be a ceremony before when it comes to like former teammates and coaches in terms of like on the video tribute side of things during TV timeouts I wonder who we’re going to get because you’re not going to get a lot of his former saber teammates you’re not going to get Jack eel you’re not going to get Sam Reinhardt I just think I don’t think the organization would reach out to those guys uh in the first place I don’t think you’re getting rasmas Stan you’re gonna get your current teammates um I think Jason pville is a good one to get pominville in that first season that Skinner was here the the line that Skinner grew into on the Sabers when he first got here was the J crew line of eel and Jason pville and pville is easy to get to if you’re the Sabers organization so I bet pville will uh have maybe a video message or some point something during this I guess they could go back to the Carolina teammates but they’re not very popular in Buffalo if they put Eric stall up on the board I just don’t know how many cheers you’re GNA get for that um Rod brandamore his former coach in Carolina I don’t think you’re going to get a lot of cheers for that the dude beat the Sabers in 06 wants to see him so I don’t know it’s an interesting one I’ll be very curious to see who we get uh in terms of stuff like that throughout the night we’ll see goals uh of course there I watched the Sab YouTube page had an 11 minute goal compilation of Skinner’s career and there’s a lot of goals you just forget about I mean a lot of them because they’re in meaningless games um but there are some especially early on talented goals that the kind that I’m like wow he was scoring goals like that where he’s shielding a guy on a breakaway and then back hands it in and moving pretty quick uh and I still think he is moving fine this year but he definitely looks younger in those those six years ago highlights from uh from the Sabers 201819 season the 10 game win streak goal though is the one right that’s the roar before the horn that was at least one night where we thought all right this is finally getting good and he was the reason it was hey O’Reilly out the door we scapegoated O’Reilly you didn’t want to play here you didn’t want to play anymore get out of here you’re in last place by the way we know how that turned out though six months later you’re O’Reilly’s over in St Louis in last place this new guy for us look at him 20 goals already in like the first two months of the Season he’s scoring in overtime to launch us to first place in the NHL it felt great and it’s kind of sad to say I don’t know if that’s ever been topped in terms of Skinner saber’s career if he could argue last year they got close one point out and he had a big goal last year one that a couple of text reached out to me about was Devon Levi’s debut last year against the New York Rangers at home where Skinner comes down on the three on three wins it in overtime and then immediately points and runs down to the other ice to to hug Devon Levi so Skinner is uh a well-liked player I saw Chad D deines asking this question on Twitter from expected Buffalo like will Skinner get booed tonight I maybe I’m missing the Mark here maybe I’m wrong I don’t think so I mean I think Skinner is well-liked I don’t find a lot of people that don’t like Skinner there might be some that are unhappy with his game this year because he’s fallen off in a bunch of different ways but I don’t see I don’t see hate for for him and one other thing I want to mention before we get to what what happened with Krueger and it’s just an amazing period in saber history when it comes to Skinner um I talked to Don Granado on Tuesday morning at wgr his weekly appearance and in the course of talking to him I liked what Granado said about he’s a different kind of leader he is not raw raw get up in front of the team give a speech guy in the locker room and call out guys when they need to like he’s he’s not like that he lik his leadership to like attitude stuff like listen when he is chirping at the other team when he is heated and intense in the moment like that he likes his young players to see that when Skinner is getting in in the head of other players like he did with Dylan Lin last year in Detroit he likes his young players to see that because there’s an intensity to it there’s a competitiveness to it that Skinner has when you’re J you the other team is the enemy the other team is the enemy and we are here to beat them and Skinner you he gets in the heads of other teams and the Sabres don’t have a lot of guys like that in fact they might not have another one like that um and Granado sounded like to me someone that he’d like to have his his guys have a little bit more of that a little bit more of that edge that Skinner possesses in the rest of his team and I would agree if you could if you could take out that edge that Skinner has and replicate it and make it into a pill and give it to each of the players I I would do it I think it would be uh it would be pretty cool to have the lot of those guys playing like that when we come back let’s reminisce on what happened with Ralph Krueger it is been a long time um but it is still unbelievable that it happened coming up in the lock on Sabers podcast we are presented by the free Amazon Fire TV channels app part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day all right Jeff Skinner 1000th game tonight and if you look at his Sabers career it’s just it’s you don’t even have to look that hard into it that not much into it you could probably figure out just by not watching a single game something happened there 20189 with the Buffalo Sabers 40 goals in 82 games played 63 points 201920 Howley was fired in comes Ralph Krueger what happens first year under Ralph Krueger he goes from 40 goals to uh 14 14 goals nine assists 23 points in year one of his nine-year extension or of his 9 million extension not good year two with Ralph Krueger this is the covid year and now it starts to get ugly but before I even get to that just looking at the numbers seven goals seven assists 14 points crazy bad unbelievable Krueger’s fired in the middle of that season what happens with Don Granado Krueger out in comes Granado 33 goals 35 goals 24 goals a stark difference before Krueger and a stark difference after Krueger Jeff Skinner has never had a horrible season without Ralph Krueger 12 12 for2 without Ralph Krueger he’s two for two in having horrible Seasons with him if you look at his numbers with each Sabers head coach under Phil Howley Jeff Skinner 82 games played 40 goals 23 assists that’s 76 points per game more than three quarters of a point per game under Ralph Krueger 84 games 16 goals 10 assists 26 points in 31 points per game 31 points per game less than half what it was under Phil Howley then Don grenado gets here in in 253 games under Don Granado 97 goals 104 assists 79 79 points per game so under Granado 79 points per game Howley 76 Krueger 31 it’s not rocket science it’s not hard to figure out what happened Jeff Skinner as I mentioned earlier is a player that let’s let’s it’s not even meant to be that much of a criticism of it but it’s just simply true you could label it that if you want he’s needs a good Center he needs good Lin mates that can get him in scoring areas that can possess the puck so that he can he can cook in the offensive zone and what Ralph Krueger did was criminal putting him on the fourth line constantly the taxi Squad where he’s not even playing and that team was starving for goals the whole time look at the most common linemate under each head coach who was Jeff Skinner’s most common linemate under Phil Howley Jack eel who was Phil who was Jeff Skinner’s most common linemate under Don Granado to this point Tage Thompson two very good skilled centerman that you can argue the star power of eel we know it Thompson is a little up and down but a very good player who was the most common linemate for Jeff Skinner under Ralph Krueger it was Curtis Lazaro Curtis Lazar was his most common linemate I mean the guy had no chance the guy never ever ever had a chance Curtis Lazar has never scored more than eight goals in a season he his career high is actually this season 24 points he never had more than 20 points until this year that’s who you were putting him with for two seasons that’s who you played him the most with good luck getting anything out of a player like that it was criminal and Krueger of course with his his backhanded compliment of Skinner in the middle of the Season showed off his bias he showed whatever was happening with Skinner behind the scenes or maybe it was just his style of player he didn’t like Skinner and I don’t know if that’s the person the work ethic the attitude whether that was the style of player maybe it was all of it he kind of hinted at that it was all of it but when Jeff Skinner had a multi-goal game in the middle of that Co season and Jeff and Ralph Krueger had had the gall to tell everyone that it’s great for Jeff Skinner who’s measured his whole career on goals saying it like it was a an insult and it’s absolutely you know there’s no way he didn’t mean that that that’s how I took it that’s how most fans took it that he had it out for Jeff Skinner and it’s not a coincidence to me that Skinner was a great player before Krueger and he’s been a great player after Krueger and it’s it’s a testament to him he survived coach that literally tried to Nuke his career I mean he was never going to do it he was under contract there’s nowhere to go uh 9 million bucks but it just it’s unbelievable that Krueger actively actively destroyed one of their best goal scorers for two years and it’s not the only player he helped tried to help destroy I mean Dalene regressed in a big way but he tried to destroy Jeff Skinner’s ability to score goals and he did a good job and then Granado came back and fixed it when we come back what about the future for Jeff Skinner his contract situation and what Granado said this morning when I asked him about Skinner and a potential decline versus going back up to where he was last year statistically let you know what he said when we come back here in the lock on Sabers final segment here on the Jeff Skinner special here in the lockdown Sabers podcast his 10,000th game I do wish it was happening in more of a a happy time right you get the end of a season on a Tuesday night when the season’s basically over um not great but maybe they’ll fill up the building for Skinner uh it could be a very cool night and I think he’ll get a pretty big Ovation uh when he comes out for the uh for the ceremony so Skinner we’ve talked about what’s happened in his career a little bit about this season what is ahead for Jeff Skinner I told you that I think there’s a chance he gets into the top 10 in terms of Sabers goals all time I also told you yesterday on the show I would bet right now that he will play a playoff game for the Buffalo Savers because I just don’t see him going anywhere in the next three years I think that contract is immovable it’s a full no movement clause on his end so he has full say over whether you do anything with it and otherwise listen he’s turned back into a a usable valuable player in the league nobody wants him at $9 million he’s not worth million of the $9 million contract like last year he lived up to $9 million if you give me 82 points 35 goals playing on line one that’s worth $9 million but otherwise the other years for the Sabers like this year and maybe even two years ago I would say he’s closer to like a five and a half to7 million player somewhere in that range especially uh two years ago maybe this year a little bit closer to like five maybe four and a half um is probably what he’s worth uh on the open market so but it doesn’t matter he’s under contract it’s a guaranteed contract you can’t do anything with it other than you could buy it out here’s why I don’t think that’s realistic if you were to buy him out this summer it’s a six-year commitment and there are some big ha hits along the way year two of the buyout $4.4 million it’s no longer just you take half of it and you spread that over twice as long there’s a different formula to it now so it would be $1.4 million of a cap HIIT in year year one of the buyout 4.4 million in year two 6.4 in year three and that to me is where the the idea is it loses all steam there’s no way they are signing up for the 2026 27 season to be on the hook for $6.4 million no way in my opinion is that going to happen and then the three years after that $2.4 million when the contract would have already expired I don’t think that’s happening although you might be asking well what about the year after that if you look at the buyout the year after that it’s still not that good 4 million followed by 6 million followed by two years at two million I just do not see I do not see him being bought out in the next two years by the Savers maybe in that final year but even then at that point I mean 5.6 million you’re saving three million bucks to take on a$2 million hit the next year maybe that one is possible but no way to me are they buying him out of the next two years especially when you know like again he’s not living up to $9 million right now but he’s not Matt molsen you know he’s not scoring five goals he’s scoring 25 goals that’s fine that’s that’s a player you want in your lineup and especially for a team that had trouble scoring goals this year I don’t want to remove him for the lineup for nothing or even give someone something to take that deal I don’t want to do that I think he’s on the team for probably the next three and certainly the next two the thing about it though is that $9 million capit I have always side rolled my eyes or pushed aside any complaint or notion that his contract is detrimental to the team it’s a big cap hit I’m not telling you he’s been worth it other than the one year last year but you tell me when that cap hit has hurt them because if I go back to when that contract started other than half a year where they spent to the cap to get Taylor Hall into the building since they traded Taylor Hall this team has not been spending to the cat they have not been planning to and they have actually been actively acquiring retired players like Ben Bishop and Johnny Boychuk because they’re so low before the below the cap floor that they had to acquire big money players that weren’t playing anymore just to reach the cap floor so Skinner did not hurt them in any way in fact he probably helped them being overpaid for a couple of years so that they didn’t have to do more of that that garbage so to this point I haven’t cared n million bucks who cares pay him 12 it doesn’t matter you’re not you’re $20 million below the cap uh the cap I will say this though it hasn’t hurt them yet this contract it’s possible that it will though in the future and that it will in the next couple of years the sabes are still a team well below the cap over $8 million below the salary cap and next year before we find out what the cap is the Sabers are estimated to have about $21 million in space they’re gonna have to start paying guys more and more and there are more and more contracts that are going to come up and that’s not it that doesn’t even count if they’re going to go do some other stuff if they’re going to go trade for Boon Jenner or something like that next year the saber by next year the Sabers will have to figure out a contract for Uka Lucan a contract for Henry okaru a contract for Payton Krebs and then other guys that you might want to bring in the sabers will have the option this offseason to pay if they want I’m not saying they should for any of these guys but they could pay Jack Quinn JJ petka Bo Byrum Devin Levi we’ll get into that in the offseason who of those guys are more likely to be paid than others but those are the guys they can pay if they want to so even if you think half those guys are getting contracts in the next two years and I’m gonna go acquire someone from out of out of out of town and I’m gonna pay bu him at some point and I gotta pay Lucan and now something that $21 million dries up pretty quickly so I I don’t even know that it’ll be a problem for them next year but maybe two years from now they’re gonna we’re all going to sit here and go oh man can you believe we got to do two more years of this Skinner contract at 9 million bucks I’m not there yet but I might project that in two years uh at the latest if not even before that we’re going to be going I wish we could get out of that it’s too bad we can’t maybe hey the expansion draft uh with Atlanta that comes along can can get him out of here I don’t need to rush him off the team he’s still scoring 20 plus goals I also talking to Don Granado on Tuesday and more confident uh I liked what Granado said about him resurging we’ve talked a lot with the coach this year about Tage Thompson regressing and him getting back to his offensive Ways last year and Dylan cousins and all these guys Alex tuck and Granado has said on all these young guys the offense will return He said that about the young guys and I asked him pointedly on Tuesday do you feel the same way about Jeff Skinner that hey the offense will return or he’s 31 you never know declines happen a little bit maybe there’s a secondary role for him coming on a third scoring line instead and Granado seemed pretty confident when he said that all those other guys will get skinner back to where he was it’s the coach admitting to what I think is true and that everyone should know by now Skinner is riant on the rest of his team and other offensive players to get him the chances and then he will bury those chances but he’s got to get the chances he’s got to be on a consistent line that is creating and and dangerous Granado basically said that you watch Thompson’s going to get back to form Dylan cousins I’m paraphrasing of course Dylan cousins is gonna get back to form Quinn’s gonna get back on the ice petka is gonna take a step tuck is going to see progression we’re gonna be more dangerous as a hockey team and Skinner and turn is gonna score goals because of that Skinner will kind of if if they give him the chances he is going to produce and that that’s not going to change despite the fact that he’s going to going into his age 32 season and I tend to agree Skinner is not someone that is heavily reliant on his skating sometimes I go back and forth I don’t know whether that has to mean you know he’s gonna decline faster or he is going to age gracefully because if you’re already not built on speed C uh Skinner for instance it’s his Edge work that is very important to his game I don’t think you lose that I I think you know if he gets slower he might you know be okay because he’s he’s opportunistic he’s got a good shot he works his edges well gets to angles that nobody else can get to because he skates strange uh just to to be Point pointed out about that um but on the other hand we see what guys look like when they get slow I mean look at Oso it was bad at the end he couldn’t skate he couldn’t beat anybody in a foot race and I would would be a little concerned I think about all right just how slow is Jeff Skinner going to get because if he’s like horrifically slow all right now I’ve got a problem if he can maintain where he’s at right now he’s not a fast player right now at all if he can maintain where he’s at right now I think that’s fine but I don’t think you want to see any more big step backs in terms of his skating that’s the one thing that I’ll be watching for in the next couple of years with him to see how he ages into lead but for now I think it’s pretty good on that front and I would expect ronado will be right I don’t know if he’ll be the coach to see it but if Thomson Returns the form if cousins returns to form if Dalene starts to like look more dangerous again like last year team overall looks more dangerous than Skinner is going to put in a bunch of goals uh for them and help them out in that way a lot all right enjoy the game 1,000 games uh for Jeff Skinner sabes and capitals before we wrap up here we’ll get you our parlay of the day courtesy of FanDuel sports book and our parlay of the day of course it’s got right we’re I told you I’m not betting with the brain anymore that end be working let’s bet with the heart might as well we’re going to go jff Skinner anytime goal in this game I wonder if they’ll get thrown back up with tuck and SK and uh Thompson uh at some point during this game and I might predict that he will so anyways Skinner to score in this game plus 280 uh that actually ranks fifth on the Sabers I like that a lot I’m going to go Sabers on the money line minus 137 I don’t think Washington’s good Washington’s a bad team minus 31 goal differential on the season for the capitals I’ve got the Sabers winning this game at home and then finally I am going to go with three plus shots on goal for JJ Petco I just think that that that bet is automatic man I think even he hits post right he misses the net sometimes the guy’s trying to shoot three plus times a game so because of that effort I’m I’m putting PKA in there at three plus shots a game Skinner anytime goal PKA three shots Sabers on the money line plus 679 for our parlay of the day good luck if you want to check out our text line join sub text.com lockon Sabers I’ll be at the game tonight so if you see me feel free to say hi and hopefully we’re talking to you tomorrow 1. Disagree. Skinner will go down as a drought Sabre.

Carolina got what: rid of a career minus player and into the playoffs EVERY year since they traded JS.

  2. Skinner looks well past his sell by date to me. His cap hit looks more and more of a liability. Buying out his contract looks the only sensible move now.

  3. A Jeff Skinner buyout spans 6 years, has a cost of $14,666,667 and savings of $7,333,333. Skinner is 32 years of age at the time of the buyout; therefore, the buyout ratio is 2/3. With $22,000,000 in salary remaining, the cost is $14,666,667, and the savings are $7,333,333. Buyouts span twice the length of the remaining years and because there are 3 years remaining in the contract, the buyout length is 6 year at 2.4 million per year.

  4. Arguing about the legacy of some mediocre player that nobody else in the league even thinks about is so drought era

  5. Botterill signed skinner to that 9 mil contract after he had one 40 goal season. For that kind of money he should have been AT least a 40 – 50 goal scorer. Back checking was not included in that contract

  6. In the days of free agency and player movement, Skinner's 1000 games (and counting) without a single playoff game is a record that may never be broken

  7. The reality is Skinner is an above average goal scorer who contributes nothing else. He doesn’t backcheck or even think about defense, and is a one dimensional player. Skinner is good for 30 to 35 goals. He's good but not elite and will certainly not go down as a "great" Sabre. His legacy will be one of the most expensive and unjustified contracts in Sabres history.

  8. Had to come over from the apple podcast app to make sure I’m not the only fan foolish enough to listen but not foolish enough believe this demonstrably incorrect take. Way to drive engagement sneak 🤝

  9. If Skinner was exceptional, Carolina would never have let him go. Simple as that. Same with Tuch and Krebs coming from Vegas, sad to say.

  10. Skinner should be traded in a package deal. Skinner and a first for a bag of pucks. Or just bury him in Roch. He has a career +/- number of minus 130.

  11. When Skinner is playing on the edge with getting everybody mad he is a good player but he doesn’t play that way enough for me. A great Sabre no way he is a ok Sabre.

  12. A great Sabre? You're joking. How many times has he lead the Sabres to the postseason? Oh that's right he's never been. He's an expensive one dimensional player who looks lost on the ice more often than not. But I guess you being in the media you have to try and find something positive when 90% of fans are negative. Does this count as accepting Mediocrity? I don't think the Sabres should ever celebrate player milestones at least until the drought ends…. Well if it ends. Also with this coach in no way will any of these players "return to form." The only way these players "return to form" is a new gm and new coaching staff. Until then it'll be constant regression.

  13. holy smokes Joe. REALLY bad math there. 217 goals for Pommer – 153 goals for Skinner is 64 / 3 seasons left is 21.3 (22) goals average per season to hit top 10. Not 32 goals per season. OMG LOL Sad part is you 100% used a calculator to do your "math" LMAO
Skinner can take a boot to the rear for all I care and get shipped out. Can't stand him as a hockey player. No battle. Doesn't skate. Can't make plays. Get off my team.

  14. A "great" Sabres Joe? Errrm.. no.
To elevate that kind of praise on Skinner is hyperbolic. 😂

  15. They need to do like they did with okposo and go to a cup Caliber team. No rings in buffalo for the near future.

  16. I love skinner and it's a damn shame his career will forever be tarnished by zero playoff appearances. Yes he's overpaid but like you said it's not like his contract ever held this team back, terrible management did not his contract. What Kruger did to him was unforgivable and definitely a big reason why so many continue to shit on skinner to this day. I hope to see him in the playoffs with us before the end of his contract but father time is coming for him and he has shown signs of slowing down this season that has many of us worried for future seasons. I don't think a buyout is necessary now but 1-2 years from now I think we'll definitely be talking about it, especially if he continues to be invisible. If he's not scoring, he's not doing much else on the ice. Not a great defensive player, not a hitter, just a good goal scorer who unfortunately is unable to drive a line himself.

  17. Jesus Christ does this guy know anything about hockey? Skinner great? That’s the dumbest thing I have heard today. Guy has never played a playoff game in his life he’s so great.
