Basic asset management. Sign a free agent on forward which costs nothing but cap space.
Keep Hrornek or trade him strictly to clear up cap space. No taking more contracts in return as trading a top 4 Right handed defenseman creates a huge hole on defense.
Necas played on the 3rd line in Carolina and barely had more points than Hronek. He is an RFA who is to receive a large pay increase. That contract will be a huge anchor to whomever signs him. There's a reason Carolina is trying to trade him.

Getting Toff and Tanev in free agency would be nice for the Canucks. If Benning was around, he would probably pay them $6mil per season each. You can't ship Mik off unless you tie a sweetener in, and Ehlers will cost you because he's young and still has potential…
Personally if Canucks can get Toffoli for cheap and don't overpay him I'll be more than happy with that. Necas would be fantastic, but it really depends how much Carolina wants for him.
Marchessault at a reasonable rate and term would be fantastic. Oh, and Guentzel of course
