Reds vs. Giants Game Highlights (5/10/24) | MLB Highlights

Dusty Baker before the game ladies and gentlemen received the 2024 baseball digest Lifetime Achievement Award it’s the only annual Lifetime Achievement Award the first three honores were Willie May Vince Gully and Joe Tory and Dusty certainly deserving it’s one of the best guys I’ve ever met not just in baseball I just mean in life on the hill tonight for the Giants will be their Ace Logan web web 61 220 pounder he’s 27 years of age out of Rockland California this is what he has done in eight starts three and three with a 350 ER TJ frel standing in hits an each of his last two games was one for five of the runs scored yesterday comes back right to where it came from and that’s how this game gets started and that is a couple of guys I you know what Mike I I don’t think you could get those lollipops out of that those hands that any didn’t cost no the guy in the lap he looks like Dad the guy in the middle looks like bomb both a couple of handsome guys and D Cruz opposite way base hit if you take that kind of approach against Logan web it will drive him crazy that’s what the Red Sox did that’s what the Phillies did and both starts very short I mean it is true you just the psychology of a team not playing well things can start to feel a little more pressured in a hurry now the pitch to Mike Ford instead of pick to First chasing D La Cruz back to the bag and he’s out so D la Cruz Cruz is picked off of first he’s still standing at first base thinking he was safe the Reds may want to challenge we’ll see but De La Cruz thought he got back in there it certainly looked live as though maybe he was out so they’ll review it New York the call on the field is that he’s out it was made by the crew chief Larry vanover Pawn review calling the fields overturn Runner safe Reds win the challenge Ellie is not picked off so there’s a disengagement there goes De La Cruz pitch misses way bad throw I mean the red should be able to run on this battery a lot yeah and not just Ellie deor Cruz but about half of this lineup right here has some speed you go on down there and you’re going to see fredle obviously DEA crew Spencer steer coming up this is the kind of a nightmare that you can give a team like the Giants who are susceptible to that running game bounc to the right side Estrada will field and throw to first D crw breaking for third and the ball wasn’t hit hard I he he might might have even had an idea of coming hard around third the Giants were paying attention two down here’s Spencer steer now the Reds have D Cruz at third with two outs smokes this ball to Center Slater in steep Retreat misses the ball D La Cruz scores steer up to second base an RBI standing double and a first inning lead for the Reds well Slater getting a start tonight because they’ve got a left-handed hitting center fielder who really can make some plays out there and he looks like he’s got plenty of time to go back on this ball uh maybe not as much as I thought that’s a very tough play it went a long way off the bat of Spencer steer good effort by Slater comes up empty Reds put one on the board just over 290 on the year 333 his last five games here’s a swing and a miss strike three a sinker and he got him but the single the steel and then the two out double the Reds have a run on the hill tonight for the Reds will be the left-hander Andrew Abbott Abbott still working on his first year at the big league level he’s 24 years of age 6 feet tall 190 pounder this will be start number eight still looking for his second win one four the 332 ER so Slater to lead things off sent to short a fire by De La Cruz showing off that arm and Slater who has some speed eras Tyro Estrada who is a right-handed hitter that has struggled against lefties hitting just a Buck 57 against left-handed pitching hit high and deep to left at the wall of the and this game is tied Tyro Estrada is built for the fall above the belt really really protects the area between the belt the letters across his chest and if you hang something soft up there that neck of the woods he’s going to hurt you home run number six on the year now Lamont Wade Jr he has not started a game against against the left-handed pitcher yet this year until tonight 3-1 swing longer run D Cruz gives ground and Benson makes the plane here’s Wilmer Giants need to get Wilmer Flores going a swing and a liner into left field that’s going to be a base hit Benson trying to cut it off in a slide and it goes by him into the corner Wilmer to Second he’s going to stop there that might have cost the Reds with a different runner in this case it just made sure that Wilmer could get to second that’s a two out double for Wilmer Flores yeah I think it would have been a double anyways but it just cinched it when he slid into the warning track and the ball kind of popped out of his glove into the slide I thought it was going to be but Wilmer these days is not he’s not burning it up on the bases so I think the Giants were happy that it just locked it in here’s Matt Chapman swing in a Miss struck him out good breaking ball down and in and he got Chapman to swing right over top of it Abbott has his first strike out of the game to end the first Benson here able to work a walk and first three ABS this inning pretty good with two Reds on big Chopper that’s one and Flores what a play and look at the defensive Brilliance of two of the Giants infielders High Hopper to B chavit comes over off the right foot across the field throws low in the dirt and Wilbur Flores on the back end comes up with a good dig and the giants walk off the field field with a beautiful double play grab some Pine that is a good team at bat from Casey Tyler Fitzgerald has good chance here to put the Giants ahead little pop up into shallow right field is this going to be a thing it is coming into scores Ramos and it ain’t how hard you hit him it’s where you hit him and that is some kind of base running right there for the Reds he’s the usin bolt of baseball the guy coming up though is the guy who blasted double in the first inning to drive in the first Reds run steer first pitch Chip Shot Flores can’t get it De La Cruz scores he tried to make a basket catch and he just could not hold on and we are tied it to a piece so now Fredo runner at second and a guy with speed Benson two down tie game first pitch served over short wave is on to third Benson races home frle try to shoot for second Benson scores fredle on the slide safe hustled double and a 3-2 Reds lead I would guess the Fairchild standing in up one you got a guy with center fielder speed I Wonder If This Were tie game if fry may still hit left on left in that spot Fairchild swings launches one high and deep left center field it is way back and it is off the wall and it carrys back towards Center Fairchild already on his way to third they’re going to send him here’s the throw to the plane inside the par C Off the Bench baseball is awesome way inside ball four so yky takes the walk this will be Blake Sable now to hit for Jackson REITs one on two out Sable the batter struck him out D Alexis Diaz bolts down the save and the Reds get a much needed win they snap their slide at eight straight they double up the gmen in the opener of this road trip for 4 to two

  1. The Reds have played 38 games. 40 is the 1/4 post. The first lap. If a player has 10 homers, you can estimate 40 on the year. That is only a formula, but it is a realistic estimate. 25 % is enough of a sample size. If Elly De La Cruz has 25 stolen bases at the quarter mark. That puts 100 on the bullseye. If Elly can stay healthy, he has a realistic chance for 100 stolen bases this season.

  2. Please let me clip that Fairchild home run! I have so many friends who don't know baseball, and that's the perfect thing to send them

  3. Weve reached the point friends where its time to relieve David Bell of his duties. Its happened to everyone at some point including Spaky Dusty and everyone else except Lou. Theres not enough space to list all the reasons. But its time and fresh leadership is necessary right now. You'll see its for the best in 25 and beyond.
