I’ve been saying this for years. if McDavid stays with the Oilers his whole career, he will be the best player to have never won a cup. He’s wasting his time. My guess is that sooner or later, they’re going to get sick of losing, and leave to go somewhere where they can win. Edmonton will never win a cop with McDavid, and McDavid will never win a cup with Edmonton. Edmonton spent their decade of darkness getting so many first overall pics, and they never focussed on getting world class goaltending or defence. They are one and a half man team. You don’t win cups with one and a half guys going against an entire team for up to seven games, four times over, and come out on top. It’s not the Gretsky era anymore. It’s not the Mario Lemieux era anymore. And even those guys had pretty decently stacked teams.
