Seriously, this is a great contract for San Jose.

  1. man he's gonna two time san hose… it's a ploy for more money and i don't respect that at all… risky move bud watch it.

  2. man who thinks this is a good thing…. other guys are going to realize they can do this and overall its a loop hole in our nhl cap hit… unselfish bs??? my ass… this is cheating and should be penalized just as fucking luongo contract…. screw this im pissed… they can fuck right off…

  3. I expect that Leblanc has an agreement for his next contract in place and this was simply a way for him to stay with the team while they keep Jumbo on for another season. Following year he will get a big raise and a contract with term

  4. This is perhaps more team friendly then Calle Järnkrok's six year 2 million per year deal with the Preds a while back.

  5. Big props to this guy for leaving room for his teammates with that contract. Not remotely a Sharks fan but Lebanc stood out to me as a really nice playmaker all season and especially in the playoffs where he almost singlehandedly engineered the 4 goal comeback on the 5 min major (I believe he assisted on 3 and scored the last one himself.) Highly respectable player with a ceiling much higher than his contract would suggest.

  6. The guy is ruining the NHL! The whole system is based on players being greedy as hell – and he just agrees to play for food!

  7. I already loved this guy. Now he's shown some serious integrity leaving $ for te team to build a better team. It can be a "do it again" deal, which I'm sure he will. Next year i hope he gets that 4m+ deal, or more, he deserves

  8. Love this signing/video even though Shannon is just repeating himself for five and a half minutes lol

So extrapolating for effect…. Marner should sign for about 3 mil. LOL

    Fingers crossed.

  9. Wow….really hope he stays healthy and has an even better year this is such a big risk for a guy that's only earnt league minimum for his 1st free years….is it possible for them to agree an extension straight away seen as he is RFA again in a year? Its surly agreed in principle with the money left on the table added on?

  10. Dude if we can get Marleau and Thornton for like 3-4 mil combined salary maybe we can make a run at a short term deal with gardiner

  11. He his taking a huge risk. What if he gets injured this year, what if he has an off season. This is costing him several millions he will never see again.

  12. Probably likes where he is… Keeps the team together as much as possible. Also, a big ALSO… there are other ways to shuffle money to a player that doesn't affect the salary cap – endorsements – watch him get a few to make up the difference for this one year.

  13. Labanc said after the contract was signed that his agent, Dr. Evil said that ONE MILLION DOLLARS would be an offer that would frighten the Sharks organization and coerce them to make the deal.

  14. Lebanc is a guy willing to delay a payday t a big chance to win. This guy gets a ton of respect for me. That’s what kind of player a team you cheer for means. And he’s still going to be rich.

  15. People better start buying his jersey! Figure out who his major endorsers are and buy that stuff too!
    Wow, what a steal!

  16. Non shark fan, as a hockey fan watched almost the entire playoffs, this guy was so fun to watch, some of the skill there is insane, so wow, this is unheard of. I would be very excited as a shark fan, except, that, I just don’t know where the team goes without Pavelski, who I also fell in love with in playoffs. I don’t know if Thornton could come back, or if it’s hindrance he did prove he is capable of playing. They would like need Marleau back. Although now that I think about it with pavs out. Courture as captain, would be awesome noticing a lot of the sharks while he’s maybe have no won a cup. They’ve built, a tea, around some pretty solid guys, that are even better people than they r at hockey. Seems like an organization id actually be proud it’s cheer for. Seems to have had some of the greatest leaders in the game

  17. Couple good contracts and San Jose has got to be looking like an attractive place to play. Like, sure, it's not big money but it signifies that there's SOMETHING in SJ that makes players want to play there.

  18. It shows how good of a character he is. I understand if your good you deserved to be payed but he probably just wants to play hockey and dosnt care about the money all too much. Like 1 million dollars is still a lot of dam money plus it just makes Marner and everyone else look completely greedy not saying Marner dosnt deserve the money but I’m hearing 11 million for Marner that insane. This kids smart just take whatever’s offered so he can keep playing hockey.

  19. Sign a long term deal or….bet on yourself. Playing a top 6 role or sign for what you did as a third liner. Yeah. No brainer for bansky. Specifically when he’s going to play with more talent

  20. As a Sharks fan this is best what I've ever seen. Loved to watch his play since first Nhl year and he has that underdog status as a 6th round draft. Now that Pavs is gone he surely will take even bigger role in the team. Also that Meiers 4x6mill contract was really nice because in my opinion he's 3x7mill worth at the moment.

  21. in all honesty, Evolving Wild had his 1 yr projection at 1.9M, so not really that far off. Timo left more actual money off the table with his contract.

  22. WOW! This is the first time I have seen ANY professional player take an extremely team friendly contract. Good for him! Looking forward to seeing him grow in the future!
