  1. It hurts to see him leave Vancouver, but he's taken a hard road to get to the NHL and he's doing what is in his best interest. Nothing wrong with that. If he doesn't have anything bad to say about the Canucks then I have no ill feelings toward him. But Allvin and co. are smart. They'll find a suitable replacement and Tocchet will get the best out of that player.

  2. Well if you only want to consistently go to the first round of the playoffs then the Leafs are a good place to start. The leafs need a whole new make over. If you want to win the Stanley Cup then stick with Rutherford, Allvin and Toch. Why did you join hockey. To win the Stanley Cup or play and make lots of money.

  3. I never blame a player for getting as much money as they can in their limited-time career, and I certainly hopes Joshua gets the amount he believes he's worth.
If it's not with the Canucks, the prospects will need to step up, whether it's Podkolzin (who plays a similar style), Karlsson, Raty, Bains, or even Klimovich. If you're not drafted by the current regime, your value isn't as high, thus you really need to impress to make it.

  4. Joshua isn't a late bloomer so much as he found a coach who believed in him, and pushed him in the right ways, and deployed him in good spots in a system that worked. He is 28 he isn't getting better. He'd be a fool to think he could replicate this success in another city. If he does then he is Anson Carter 2.0. Remember when he showed up to camp not in shape and he got healthy scratched a bunch? Tough love. He ain't gonna get healthy scratched when he makes $4 million. That's a bad thing.

  5. I really don't think Joshua for $4 mil is a bad contract. I think he's worth that, and I also think signing him either gives us an absolute beast of a 3rd line, or an option to bump him and Garland up to the wing with Petterson to give Pettey a productive pair of wingers, including one who can get into the dirty spots and create loose pucks, and chaos in the slot, and one who's a good passer and creative with the puck, who can feed Pettey for his one timers. Makeyev could not get Pettey the puck if his life depended on it. Hoglander's a good player, but he's still young and needs more seasoning, and is more of a finisher so far as I've seen, so again, not the guy to feed Petty the one timer, but both Garland and Joshua can, and Joshua can also get in front and create the screens, tip-ins and rebound opportunities and back door low option plays of Pettey's too well covered.

  6. Joshua is the type of player the Leafs need. I don't know if this makes it official, but I guess there's still a chance he comes back. My guess is that his asking price for Toronto will be lower. Hey, he earned the right to go where he wants with his play. Granted, I miss the days when players were at least somewhat loyal to the teams who gave them opportunities.
