Boston Bruins’ Brad Marchand Avoids Suspension for Shoving Linesman in Game 6 vs. Leafs

with Maran of course puszi and Maran have been doing this the entire series too you got two veteran referees in Chris Rooney and Dan war and you know we’ll be talking to both benches the Chari makoy does a great job of getting around Robertson but you could see

May 2, 2024: Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand has avoided a possible multi-game suspension after he shoved linesman Ryan Daisy out of the way in Game 6 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

More at Scouting the Refs, including by the automatic suspension in Rule 40 doesn’t apply here: https://scoutingtherefs.com/2024/05/45049/bruins-marchand-avoids-suspension-for-shoving-linesman/

  1. He should have asked the Linesman to move. But , in the heat of the moment I can understand the shove. Doesn't seem like the Linesman cared. Had Marchand waited, Boston may have been called for too many men on the ice

  2. It's obviously not malicious and only practical, but as a league, you can't really condone it either. It's a good illustration of how hard it is to police hockey on and off the ice as a whole.

  3. It's totally malicious on the refs part. You can't continually knock over/bump into/ impede one player consistently either. He's trying to win the highest and hardest trophy in sports. GET OUT THE WAY ref.

  4. I40.4 Automatic Suspension – Category III – Any player who, by his actions, physically demeans an official or physically threatens an official by (but not limited to) throwing a stick or any other piece of equipment or object at or in the general direction of an official, shooting the puck at or in the general direction of an official, spitting at or in the general direction of an official, or who deliberately applies physical force to an official solely for the purpose of getting free of such an official during or immediately following an altercation shall be suspended for not less than three (3) games.

If Nazem Kadri did that while playing in Toronto… yeah – they give him 8 games. Not like Marchand isn't known for his dirty play either.

  5. Double standards have no place in pro sports-his shove was deliberate. You don't touch officials, ever. But, the Rat's time in the league is limited… his intent to injure other players will catch up to him.

  7. He should avoid suspension because that linesman had no business stepping in to defend Bertuzzi other than linesman bet on Toronto is Leafs supporter. And Linesman blocked the gate.

  8. Love the 'well he shouldn't have been standing there'. A) he was only there to police Marchand in the first place B) he was only 'blocking' the bench because Brad Marchand had to go through him and not around him.. He is getting off the ice, not rushing for a breakaway.

  9. 1000% a suspension but it won't happen. Any intentional contact on the ref should be an immediate suspension, he should have even been thrown out of that game. The rule is designed to take any second guessing out of the equation.. Its either an accident and nothing, or on purpose and a suspension. Who cares anyways, wouldn't want Marchand to miss the juicy taste of Deja Vu losing another 3-1 series lead and making history for the only team to do it back to back in all of the NHL MLB and NBA

  10. The zebras actually suck, in all directions. These days, it appears that some of them think they are the show. I see them pushing players aggressively constantly. They need to be reigned in somewhat.

  11. Entire leafs nation up in arm's about no suspension. Everyone else.. meh ur blocking the door bruh let me help you do ur job correctly and get the fuck away from the bench door.😂

  12. If he really tried to shove him because he was mad he would knock him to the ice but he was just trying to get on the bench so his team doesn’t give up a odd man rush

  13. Jesus Christ is know people outside Boston hate this guy but come on. I think that if was an intent to hurt the linesman he would’ve done something about it. Absolutely harmless and happens alot. But its Marchand so grab the pitchforks and torches.
