Who could be the Toronto Maple Leafs top defenceman target in free agency?

    Hilarious that so many Leafs people would rather pay a soon to be 35-year old, injury prone Tanev over someone like Montour, mainly because of name recognition. And if you think Montour will take $6mil while Rielly makes $7.5, you’re smoking something. Rielly plays like a forward and hangs his D partner out to dry all the time. Funny that Brodie has a down year and suddenly Rielly looks like shit.

    Can assure you that the Leafs Organization did everything in their power to help Marner deal with the spotlight & the pressure that comes with it. You can't help a guy whose own father is forwarding him articles and clips of the media tearing him apart. I am extremely confident they asked him to spend some significant time with a Sports Psychologist, leave all social media at least in season, etc. You can lead a horse to water, you can't make it drink. If you can't as an elite athlete quit social media for the season to be the best player you can be, you probably can't be helped. Eventually he will figure it out on his own, and I am sure he will be an elite player with another team, but his time in Toronto is up.

    Florida vs Dallas for the cup. Stanley cup final is almost as long as the preseason now lol. Soory the cup is supposed to mbe won by the last team standing giving them recovery time like spring training is BS. ill be tuned out if there is 6 days off between games start the summer… Off grid

    Why not grab multiple draft picks for Marner and Reilly. That frees up 18mill of cap space. Add in Samsonov 3.5 and Bertuzzi 5.5 mill. You now have 27 million in cap space and some first and second rounders . Use the cash to sign Montour, Tanev, Markstrom and Perron. Use the picks to made some smaller deals to fill in a couple more spots. Or keep them for future.

    🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️Montour is 28 yrs old and Tanev is 34 yrs old turning 35 yrs old so why would u sign Tanev???? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    The problem is when you talk about pressure with the leafs and being on the core guys whether its fair or not and how theh handle it is irrelevant for how the team is constructred on a nightly basis you 9 times out of 10 will to outscore your opponent which scoring in the playoffs is alot more difficult especiallu if you are not willing to get in the dirty of the ice to make something haooen when things arent going your way. They have never been that kind of team around this core and the offense always disappears from at least 1 of those guys which again they cannot afford for how the team is built, you need like multiple goals a night from those 4 to make up for the average goaltending and weak defense. The leafs are the only team in the nhl built like this, so comparing them to Edmonton is no where near the same when they have guys like Bouchard, Ekholm and Nurse to go along with McDavid, Draisaitl & Hyman ect.
