The Dallas Stars are on the brink of Elimination after 3-1 loss to Edmonton Oilers in Game 5

The Dallas Stars are now on the brink of elimination after losing game five to the Edmonton Oilers by a final score of 3-1. On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, Joey reacts to a disappointing performance by the Stars that now puts their season on the line on Sunday night. Edmonton is showing they are the better team in the series and tonight their power play made its presence. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored both power play goals for the Oilers and Philip Broberg scored the other in the 2nd period to lead Edmonton to victory. The Stars got outplayed and players like Matt Duchene, Joe Pavelski, and many others have not made a positive impact. Joey questions if the Stars have enough gas in the tank to win game six in Edmonton to force a game seven after what we saw tonight. The compete level was not good enough, it will have to elevated if they want to keep their season alive. The big question now is, are the Stars going to make adjustments? They have not been able to attack offensively consistently for three games now, can they find a way or will it be too late?

  1. This is exactly how vancouver played in games 6 and 7 against Edmonton..its more so how good the oilers played not how bad the nucks or stars played…

  2. As Of Right Now,The Stars Look Like They Couldn't Even Get Out Of The First Round..I Give The Oilers Credit,But Man As a Stars Fan,This Is Bizarre Of There Play Right Now..

  3. This team is just embracing its Minnesota sports team roots by absolutely disappearing in big moments. I’ve watched a lot of bad hockey games as a long time Stars fan but this is absolutely embarrassing. Credit to Edmonton 100%. I can’t say enough about how well and structured they have played. With that said Dallas hasn’t even fought for it. It’s not about losing battles when the guys aren’t getting in the battle to begin with. On a side note, anyway we see DeBoer shake things up and bring a guy like Bourque? Fresh legs with a ton of skill and willingness to shoot the puck. We could use all of that right now.

  4. Stars still have a 29% chance of still winning this series. It’s not much, but I have faith in the Stars! ❤

  5. The Stars haven’t scored a single PP goal in this series and they gave up a short handed goal. That pretty much sums up everything without needing to dive deeper into the rest.

  6. Completley gutless effort by the Stars. They need to learn from Florida. The Cats are all heart and have a ton of sandpaper. I have been with Stars all season, but this was pathetic. Suter is horrible AGAIN. Otter is the most inconsistent G in the NHL. A head case.

  7. Minnesota fan here. Cant say i wasnt delighted to see #20 get called for crosschecking McDavid, and get made to pay on subsequent PP. 6 shots halfway through the game(and even then they changed it to 5 lol) I am thoroughly impressed with Oilers playing shutdown D in past 2 games. 8 unanswered goals goals i think. 25 for last 25 penalty kills gor the Oil. Seeing suter whining and crying after being called for a triple crosscheck on McJesus was glorious. Almost like he was very frustrated😂. He pulled that same shit last year against Kaprizov in the playoffs. Suter doesn't get the reputation he deserves, but i believe he is a dirty player. Giving the Oilers power plays will end this team quick you better be very disciplined from here on out. That said, I think Florida is destined to win the cup this year. I wonder if Suter is good in the room or has he continued his cancerous tendencies that he had in Nahville and MN? Either way he is getting paid I guess. You might think he got.knocked down a peg after being bought out due to his diva mentality. I still think the stars might pull this off, but won't win the cup. Better mix up the lineup or something. But i think special teams might lose this for the stars if the oil co tinues their excellent PK and PP.

  8. The coach losing his cool in the after game interview, isn’t helping the collective confidence of the players, as it shows on the ice too, Oilers in 6.

  9. It became obvious that the Stars do not have an answer for the Oilers when DeBoer lost his shit with that journalist after the Game. You can see his frustration has reached a new level. I don't think the media should be that involved multiple times a day, it is a bad distraction. Edmonton has improved their defense tremendously this year. This coach has something to do with it no doubt.

  10. Edmonton completely outplayed Dallas in every way. They can effortlessly enter the zone at will, while Dallas can barely get the puck past Edmonton’s forecheck.
Oilers faster to the puck, out position, more physical. And the worst part – oilers wanted it more.

Only bright spot for Dallas are our youngins. Stank and Wyat played well. So that’s nice

  11. I think yall are underestimating knoblar. He has been an excellent coach and a big reason for the star's frustrations imo. He wasn't afraid to shake things up and Dallas has struggled to respond

  12. Im not going to be down on the stars here.. they just need to play like theyve got nothing to lose and just go after it. Trust your game fkrget about what theyre doing and just fire everything at the net. The oilers deserve all their credit. Awesome team. We go down with the ship, its been one heck kf a season and im a peoud stars fan either way. Its not over until its over.

  13. Why do you all sound losing hope? It’s not over. It’s not over yet. Oilers lost game 5 last series but won game 6 and 7.

  14. As an Oiler fan in Edmonton, I'll hand it to the Stars and Dallas in general, this is a classy franchise, and this podcast is amongst the best I've heard for unbiased analysis from a team channel. Good job Joey.
