[David Pagnotta] It’s still very early in the process to project where this will go, but the #LeafsForever have started contract discussions with pending UFA winger Tyler Bertuzzi.

I would have to hope so. Bertuzzi publicly expressed an interest in returning. If you’re not talking to him you’re not doing your job.

I honestly think he was overpaid last season. He’s at most a $5 million a year player, and that’s being generous.

  3. *So Tyler, are you willing to sign for less than $5 Million per season? Oh, you’re not? Ok, cool. Let us know if you change your mind.*

Another off-season of dumpster diving for hidden gems and reclamation projects begins.

Incoming $6x6yr and naive fans trying to justify it.

Leafs are in no position to pay Bertuzzi unless we are missing some important inside information (ie clearing some cap space)

Set aside 9m for both his and Domi’s extensions, idc how much they split it. Ideally you go 5.25m x 5 for Bert and 3.75m x 4 for Domi

  7. This man is about to be grossly overpaid and it will somehow be Dubas’ fault

Bertuzzi is very meh, if they resign him it better be for a lot less than last year.

Also he needs to be on the third line. He just doesn’t work with anyone with talent, but he could be an effective crash the net type player. But paying $5m for a 3rd liner is not a good idea.

While I would have liked to see results with Bertuzzi last year, he was a legitimately good player for us in the top 6.

Please no, that money should be spent elsewhere.

All well and good, like the player, like the fit. Marner or Tavares still has to go to make this work though.

So many people don’t understand hockey. What the fuck did they want Bertuzzi to score? 70 points? Dude played on the 2nd PP when it desperately needed a change despite Marner and Tavares doing nothing on it.

43 points playing on the 2nd PP is pretty darn good. We lost Hyman and look at him now. Did he ever get a shift on the first PP despite his net front presence?

I think Bert came a long way near the end of last season. I think it took him time to adjust last year.

I also think Coach B will get alot more out of him then Keefer did…

As long as it’s not an over pay, and the term isn’t too long. I think its a good idea to keep him.

Same for Domi, at a lower price.

    We will see…
