The Leafs not trading Marner this off season will be a mistake. If you have no intentions of signing him to an extension you cannot let an asset like Marner just play out the season and walk away for nothing. Use the asset you have to get as many pieces back as you can to improve the team for the future. It's pretty clear by now that Leafs are looking at being competitive in two to three years from now and not next year. With the way they are holding onto Cowan and Minten and all their draft picks. They have committed to getting younger and building around Auston & Willy
