  1. Whoever decides to add spoilers to the title of old games like this should be turfed.

  2. People outside Quebec have no idea how much these two teams HATED each other, a reflection of the animosity between the two cities. It was on a whole other level than any other NHL rivalry. In rural north eastern Quebec, Montreal was considered a city of rich urban elitists, and who spoke English and were traitors to French culture. Meanwhile in Montreal, Quebec City was considered a town of uneducated pompous rural hillbillies. And seeing most players in this series grew up in Quebec, it explains why both teams were so desperate to win.

  3. When I think of hockey I think of the Canadiens-Nordiques rivalry!

I can't wait for Bettman to expand into Houston and Atlanta next! Are there any more UNDESERVING MARKETS? Yes, Phoenix.

Gary Bettman's NHL – 19 years of hockey in Georgia – 0 NHL players from Georgia – 0.02% hockey registration.
    – 18 years of hockey in Arizona – $115.2 million in losses in past ten years – 0.12% hockey registration.

Hockey registration went from 0% to 0.12% (one tenth of a percent) and 0.02%…basically no growth in twenty years.

    WELL DONE BETTMAN!

  4. I got to go to the Montreal Forum when i was in college at St. Lawrence (NY) in the late 80s….it was a shrine. Amazing place to see a game.

  5. Every major population center in Canada (except one) ALREADY HAS AN NHL TEAM. It's literally just a matter of time.

    1 Toronto Maple Leafs (5,647,656)

    2 Montreal Canadiens (3,675,219)

    3 Vancouver Canucks (2,426,160)

    4 Calgary Flames (1,305,550)

    5 Edmonton Oilers (1,151,635)

    6 Ottawa Senators (1,068,821)

    7 QUEBEC (839,311)

    8 Winnipeg Jets (834,678)

EVERY NHL TEAM IN CANADA GENERATES REVENUE FOR THE LEAGUE

Atlanta had 5.1 million people in 2010…lost 130 million the previous 5 years.

Then moved to Winnipeg…731,000 in 2011…and INSTANTLY started generating revenue for the league.

Winnipeg soldout every home game from 2011 to 2020…41 games a year for 10 years straight (until covid 19 hit)

  6. Could feel the energy build up in this game more and more by the 2nd period like WW3 was breaking out on ice starting with dirty Dale Hunter.
