  1. Good show and I'm glad Eric asked the question regarding the alternative at #8 and the impact that has yet to be answered by those against the pick made at #8. It's amazing to me that we have this many people against a pick with no presentation of what the alternative should've been and why. Two key questions:

1.) What was the Falcons projected ceiling finish to the season and what alternative pick at #8 was going to change that ceiling and what do you project that ceiling to be?

2.) We all understood Cousins contract is a 2 year deal essentially even though many deceptively framed it as 4 years and $180 mill. That being the case, what was the solution you had in mind for QB beyond those 2 years?

I don't see how you can have a conversation on the pick without answering those questions. The Falcons front office did answer those questions in the move they made, seems only to make sense that being against the pick those questions would be answered as well. It's not meant as an attack, I'm genuinely curious to know what people believe in relation to those answers.

  2. Eric accidently made me mad about the draft again 😂 😂Yes If we went with a defensive end we would probably be SuperBowl bound. To the team give me a good reason to get excited about them they 7 in 10 right now. Simply because of the start of the schedule

  3. Misuse of assets, both chiefs and packers were highly successful franchises that were playoff stagnant, so those examples don’t apply because the falcons haven’t sniffed the playoffs. You know why having two qb are bad, because it’s the one damn position where there is only one alpha that plays. This is equivalent to being hired for your dream job, then two months later being told “ we hired your replacement, and he’ll be taking over for you in two years.” Dirtybird means unappealing person, and that description doesn’t fit any better than this incompetent franchise.

  4. From what I understand there have been reports that the Falcons interest in Penix well pre-dated Kirk’s signing. So I don’t buy this narrative that it was some neat and tidy, linear thought process. Rather, it is a mess of their own creation.

They had the conviction to take Penix at 8, but apparently lacked the courage to sign a regular bridge QB and sit him for just 12 months?

If they were in love with Penix to the extent media leaks have suggested, you simply do not sign Cousins. The path we have chosen doesn’t do justice to either of them.

And when you consider how relatively inactive we were in free agency and with possible cuts/restructures, the evidence points to a decision having been made early in the off-season that we weren’t going to be aggressive. It’s a very confused strategy.

  5. People can ask if you have a QB until the ones on the roster prove they're good…

Why do people act like drafting Penix means they have QB figured out? Just look at the bust rate of 1st rd qbs. Many with much better scouting profiles than him.

It is not "literally the same situation", they just went out and signed Kirk in free agency. If you need to lie to support your argument, you just have a shitty argument. Your argument for not drafting a defensive player because they don't make you better than SF is the same argument you could use for why you don't sign Cousins. Using someone not being a high pick as a reason why they are unlikely to be Watt, drafted 30th overall, is quite an interesting choice to discount that. The massive holes in this dude's thought process is how you know he's just trying to make excuses.

  6. you wasted 1 resource that might have been enough Rodgers was right drafting Love did not win the team a SB two 1 score losses for 13 3 teams wasted his MVP seasons … imagine Tee Higgens Puttman Jr Pat Queen on those teams

  7. “IF” Penix works out. OK, well you can say that about anything. IF Ridder worked out we wouldn’t have needed to sign Cousins. If it works out is a pointless discussion. The question is do you think it will? You can certainly make a case but it feels important to ask how often is the 4th QB taken (a believed reach) the guy people are spinning it now. It fails more than it succeeds
