Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette felt New York’s series loss to the Florida Panthers came down to being shut down offensively. After getting timely scoring throughout the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Rangers met their defensive match in a Panthers team that allowed just four goals on the road at MSG and only five goals total in Games 4, 5 and 6 to finish off the series.

Rangers haven't been god rhis post season. Capitals were easy. They almost blew it against hurricanes. Only reason they beat canes cause Islanders wore them down in 1st round. Panthers are better than rangers, too many goal scorers
Rangers had a good season. Next year maybe not
Laviolette can't be absolved. His desire to screw with the lineups, trying to force back players like chytil and wheeler who hadn't played in months disrupted the rhythm of this team quite a bit, his distrust of using Rempe even though the team was winning almost every game with him in the lineup. Didn't really see too many adjustments made in this series, and just decided he would go down with the ship in terms of how his team would play. I won't say he was the main reason, but he played a big part in this collapse.
Too many of the best players didn't show up when they needed to no fight in their bodies
1 cup since WW2. The most overrated hockey team and fan base in NHL history this side of Toronto. ššš

Hahaha!! As a hardcore caps fan this is fun. Lavt sucked coaching caps. We look so much better with a young hungry coach who got caps back in playoffs. A huge win. Having traded away much of the scoring they STILL made playoffs, but of course had no chance in the playoffs this year. Only a couple years away from being a contender again unlike the rangers who wonāt get there. Already next year caps Willie better. Will score more, let in less and win a round or two possibly. Was so cool sticking it to the penguins, philly and Detroit. Rangers have zero to show for their work. Didnāt do anything more than caps cause both teams lost playoffs & both lost last game. Crosby hasnt had playoff success in eight years best spring.
I dont know why we didnt play rempe but three minutes in those two games. What an insult to actually coaching.
We needed everyone to play like Laffy did. Disgusted with our main 4 guys. They literally vanished in the playoffs. Need to fix this asap
Kreider needs to go. He is one dimensional. If he had Lafrenierās aggressiveness he would be better but he is not physical enough.
The playoff is another game. Score all you want in a regular season
Another year. They did have a great year, but once again fell short! Itās not the coaches, itās the players. Same old same old. The culture needs to change. Until next year.
It isn't rocket science, they got very little in this series from Kreider, Mika and Panarin. Trouba didn't measure up, Gus is a turnover machine (they really should have tried Jones at some point), Fox was clearly injured … Chytil had some rust, Cuylle hit a wall, Roslovic skates well but has no real hockey IQ.
I understand the players have a lot to do with this loss. When you play a team like the Panthers or any team that is as organized or physical as the Panthers, you have to step up your effort. I feel the effort was lacking the majority of the series. However, players are creatures of habit, they will continue to do what they are comfortable doing, even if it is not working. It's the job of the coach to see what the opponent is doing and adjust. Pete has a ton of experience, and yet, this team looked lost the whole series. They adjusted in no shape or form to withstand Florida. This is s team loss. Two years ago, we got smashed by TB 4 straight games, I feel the first two round wore us out and we ran out of gas. May year, we underestimated NJ and their speed killed us. This year, we had the perfect first round, we had a wake up call but good series against Carolina, we just got beat by a better team. Simply stayed, we got out played, out coached, pushed around the whole series.
