For everyone saying Tavares needs to go, you’re all obviously correct but Burke isn’t calling Matthews “untradeable”. He’s saying that about Tavares. And what he’s saying without saying is “There isn’t a team in the world who would pay his 11 mil salary for what he’s actually worth.”
Tavares is, at best, a 6 mil/year player. Realistically, he’s played more like a 4.5-5 mil/year producer the last couple of seasons, and he’s evidently only going to decline. And that’s why he’s untradeable.
Well this hasnt aged well considering Nylander has been an absolute stud this year.
Tree better be fired after they fail again this year. Need a GM with balls in this city for once. This experiment failed year ago, now it's getting embarrassing for the players and fans.
i like Brian Burke, but he had his chance to take the Leafs to the promise land….so grain of salt.

This aged well 😂 Burke sounds like he’s bragging by saying Nylander was overpaid on his last contract of 6.9 Mil….no he wasn’t. By the end of it, it was a bargain. And now he’s a top 10 scorer and will get 100 points this year. Typical Burke, blame the Euro. Matthew’s was getting his 14 mil regardless.

Offload Marner and Tavares. Maybe Vancouver would, by some miracle (for the Leafs) trade them for Boeser and Miller. Or anything in that realm. Or to Florida for Tkachuk and Verhaege. Just get them gone.
