Dallas is going to need their own Bruce Cassidy at this rate. DeBoer’s gotten that team as far as he can take them, but they don’t give trophies to Conference Finalists.
That young, electric core is oozing with talent. They remind me of Colorado a few years ago when they were amassing a group of youthful, elite stars and depth pieces before finally breaking through and winning the Cup. The Stars should at least make it to a Cup Final in the next 5 years, but the only problem is the bench boss holding them back.

I’m always torn on this because I genuinely like DeBoer as a person. You could tell in the handshake line at the end of the Dallas series that a lot of Vegas still loves and respects him. I want him to get a cup before he dies.
That said, behind the bench, it’s always the same story with him. Stubborn loyalty to strategies that go stale and assistant coaches that have proven to be subpar (Steve Spott). Seeing the Stars lose while outshooting Edmonton 3-1 gave me flashbacks to the Vancouver and Dallas series in the bubble playoffs.
I want the best for the guy but he seems to be his own worst enemy and just can’t take that final step.
