I’m happy for him. Laviolette did a great job this year with our roster. Knoblauch might have been better, we’ll never know but he also gets to coach McDavid and Draisaitl which is a luxury we don’t have.

Lav did a amazing job w/this team. This team wasn’t expected to win the President’s Trophy and be the top team in the East this year. Knoblauch has the benefit of coaching McJesus and Draisaitl. Good for Knoblauch. But I’m not gonna cry about him winning it.

He also has the best player in the NHL and probably another top 5 player. I did like what he did with Hartford though because he realized they weren’t doing well and scrapped his whole style and got results l

I am literally crushed thinking what might have been if we had Knoblauch. I 100% believe he is a far better coach than Han Lavi and having a guy who is known for developing young players will be so important starting next year. Now we are stuck with a re-tread who is known for the opposite – ignoring the development of young guys and focusing solely on vets. Knoblauch is amazing at making adjustments as well, which we all now see is something Lavi just cannot do. Ugh. This hurts as much as us losing, especially because it affects us long-term. When a Lavi gets canned, and he will, there is no other coach available as good as Knoblauch and Drury just let him get away all because he thought Lavi would get us a cup and Knoblauch wouldn’t. Jokes on him.

At least an ex ranger is going to be there.

To be fair, nobody expected Knoblauch to leave when he did. It was kind of a shocker and you can’t sit there and be mad about it now. Hiring Laviolette was a good idea. We got a president’s trophy out of it but the problem is our core, always has been and it doesn’t matter who the coach is. We didn’t have any players on our roster that would have helped us beat Florida, sorry to say it. A coach can only do so much, if your top guys suck and refuse to put in the work, what else can you do? Lavi got whatever he can get out of this roster, they can’t get over game 6 ECF with the players we have. Sucks but it’s the truth

Otoh, very happy for him; he seems like a great coach. Otoh, the irony is a bit ouch. He was in our organization and we passed on him, so definitely some what ifs. But Lavi also was also so strong this season, at least until some aspects of the last series.
