It all started with a small ski shop in the Italian alps in 2009. But i'm getting ahead of myself. My job took me to Calgary, AB in 2012. On a cold Friday night in February my GF and I visited a downtown bar for some beer and wings. There was ice hockey on the tv. I was always fascinated by the sport. On more than one occasion I got glares from guys sitting at tables around me. A case of mistaken identity I guessed. Calgary flames won the game and the staring died down a little. But when the beers set in they become obnoxious. This was not the Canada I was told about …. One guy told me I had "some set of balls". When I left the bar groups of supporters would cheer at me "Go flames!!". It took us a while to realise that it was my toque. I never took it off that night. Navy, white and orange. When I pulled it out of a ski shop bargain bin in Livignio in 2009, I had unknowingly nailed my hockey colours to the mast. A happy twist of fate took us to YEG in 2013 but I was already supporting the team. We lived there for 4 great years. My kids were born there. I mountain biked the river valley most summer evenings. I worked in NAIT and snapped up Oiler tickets whenever I could. watched the games religiously on tv. We're back in Ireland since 2017 but I'm one happy oiler this morning. I miss Edmonton. 💙🧡

Mc David is a genuine star..only recently I saw an interview with Gretz when he said todays hockey players have no creativity..they are robots and play robot hockey like Florida Panthers…its a hockey stick competition ..lets see which one is stronger..that goal will make highlight reels for years ..because its a rarity..glad that I am alive to see him play ..btw my fav hockey player was Kent nilsson…
