What does advancing to Stanley Cup Final mean for McDavid’s legacy?

What does this game mean for Connor McDavid’s legacy? Who deserves credit for the Oilers turnaround this season? Who would you pick as the Oilers postseason MVP? What’s changed for Stuart Skinner to be so effective? TSN Hockey analyst Martin Biron joins SC with Jay Onrait to share his thoughts.

  1. Hopefully oilers win and bring the cup back to Canada but tbh FLA is a much better team. Oilers can be all over the place at times.

  2. It's okay. You and all the other so called experts bet against the oilers. They'll prove you wrong too.

  3. What Legacy? 0 cups great Legacy! Oh boy, won a scoring race and an MVP. So what? You guys should really get off of the floor!

  4. The biggest win for a Canadian team in these playoffs. But you couldn't find this game on the public channels of CBC or CTV. Hockey was once Canada's national sport. Now, greed is.

  5. Why is it that Oilers fans and the media are acting like the Oilers are just happy to be in the finals? Florida players and fans won't be happy with anything but a cup. McDavid hasn't got any legacy until his name is engraved, end of.

  6. There is no doubt that 29 & 97 are amongst some of the greatest players but they are not winning the cup.

Skinner is a marginal goaltender plus the NHL makes sure Canadian teams do not win.

  7. Edmonton Oilers surprised me, they are getting more and more confident in every game. Panthers want redemption from losing the Stanley Cup final last year to Vegas. Panthers have a complete team top to bottom. Edmonton has to stay out of the penalty box and not sit back on a lead in the game. Personally, I want OILERS to win it all but this is easily a 6 or game 7 Stanley CUP final

  8. Marty Biron has been wrong about the Oilers all year. Only gets half of his made up theories right in this one too. Shouldn't surprise anyone, he didn't watch the Oil in the regular season.

  9. This idiot was wrong once before when he picked Dallas. Edmonton is going to prove him wrong once again

  10. Panarin’s deal is up the same time as McJesus’s. NYR (among other teams) will be ready to offer him a MASSIVE deal. I wonder if he wins a Cup this, or next year, if he heads to a bigger market.

  11. skinner was the player of the game in game 6. 35 fucking shots, only 1 GA, against a team like dallas is bonkers.

  12. Florida will not shut down Edmonton’s top scorers like they did in other series. They just won’t. 💯 It’ll still be a very close series. Skinner’s gotta stand on his head, though.

  13. Honestly there is no way Connor deserves the Conn Smythe. He’s had a few moments for sure but overall? The value he’s provided has been lacking imho.

RNH tho….screams Conn Smythe…and if I was McD, I’d know he deserved it more than me and he would get it.

  14. Nothing, if he doesn't win. It's like climbing up a mountain, but not making it down, or swimming halfway across the ocean. Nothing has been achieved.

  15. Oilers have to keep playing the same way oilers have more goal scoring experience up front and Paul Coffee has defense on fire and they contribute to goal scoring he has them the same way he played in playoffs doesn't matter Florida blew every one out last year but then Vegas kicks there ass in Stanley cup Florida just flopped it can happen to either team but I would not give a edge to any team going into final cause it's all b.s the better team will be the one holding cup in the end

  16. Yeah . The stars were better in net and deeper than the oilers too . Chris tanev was supposed to shut down mcdavid too. The oilers are deep it's not the mcdavid and draisaitl show anymore

  17. I don’t cheer for anyone other then the Leafs, however I’ll be cheering for Hyman for sure! Great player and person.

  18. why are people talking about McDavid's legacy as if it is more important than the team accomplishment? I bet this idiot has Connor McDavid pajamas ffs. grow up! this match up of Oilers vs Panthers was probably my most desired after TOR-EDM, but of course that was never realistic. should be very interesting but I wouldnt bet against a Florida sweep. hope I'm wrong.

  19. Panthers are the most penalized team in the league….good luck if you have to repeatedly face Edmonton's PP….

That will be a key factor

  20. It gives further ammunition to what we already knew. He's the greatest player of his generation (defined as 2010-2020 draft classes). You could argue Matthews, Makar, Kucherov, Draisaitl, or MacKinnon as second, but no one is more talented. With a Stanley Cup berth, no one is more accomplished either (particularly if he wins one).
