This doesn’t make sense. Hronek is a top pairing RHD who is only 1.5 years older than Necas who is also a winger. Hurricanes should be the ones adding IMO

What’s this kid like as a player? From stats alone, he eclipses Hog by a good bit but is it enough to add our (from what we have very little of) top prospects in addition?
Nils also one of my favourite players so I’ll admit I got some rose coloured glasses looking at that Hog.

Gonna be a long off-season. Carolina is out to lunch if they think we’re going to add. We’re better off walking away from this deal than they are.
Might be an unpopular opinion. I do not want to send lekkerimaki for this guy. Dude has the potential to be a stud, and can be cheap for a couple of years.
I would be absolutely livid if we move either Lekk or Willander. I think Lekk is gonna be the real deal and has the tools to be a 35-40+ goal scorer. Honestly, I wouldn’t even do Hronek for Necas in a 1 for 1 trade, but management seems to like him, so I don’t fucking know. I think Hronek is more valuable than Necas.

I don’t really see how Vancouver could land Necas.
Van has 2 meaningful prospects in the system, and essentially no draft picks to trade.
I’d rather work out a fair extension with Hronek (50-54 million/8 years). Versus trading the #2 defender on a team that only has 2 top-4 defenders for a high end winger thats likely gonna cost 56-60+ million.
*Maybe* it’s a scenario where you’re moving out Brock and that gets you the cap/assets to go after Necas?
Carolina is posturing to try and get better offers. Necas has potential, but Rod doesn’t deploy Necas to his full potential. I’d rather keep Lekkerimaki, Hoggy, D.EP and Willander, as cheaper depth options that can grow into valuable pieces.

I get that we’re priced out of Hronek. I don’t get why we aren’t trying to trade for a RHD to replace him? Like we went out of our way to acquire him and now it’s going to cost us to trade him?
If not Hronek, then who will replace him?

Necas wants to play C but Rod won’t let him sniff it because his defensive game needs work. Tocchet won’t let that fly here either. If he’s coming here, management better be sure he’ll be fine playing on Petey’s wing.

Nah, walk away then. We have spent so much time getting out of cap hell and dev players. We never had D amd now we have some. If we dont keep Hronek then there is a team out therr wholl trade for him and pay well for him. Screw giving carolina a kings ransom for a winger just to put us back in a crappy spot. There are other fish in the sea and other partners to dance with. Hogs is young and controlled so is Lekkermaki so you keep them as our team needs that low cost controll. Is Necas good? Sure, but yuoll pay for him like hes tops in the league. Hoesntly, I’m tired of the nucks always be8ng to team paying that stupid price for a new shiny thing and shooting themselves in the foot.

Real question I think is, what other players around that age group of Necas would the Canucks be targeting?
Let’s face it, you either risk all your future for the next few years of winning or do nothing and risk getting knocked out of the first round every year
Gotta say, I’m not loving the Necas talk. Sounds like the cost for both a trade and contract would be extremely high. For what? A guy who has 243 points in 362 games? Who plays on a team that isn’t bothered to lose him?
It’s not that I’m not down with the idea of taking a big swing to add another star up front. I just don’t see what the big deal is with this guy.
I wouldn’t trade Hronek, a top pair RHD is hard to come by and even if you don’t think that he is a top pair dman he is still a Right shot top 4 dman, now if our management don’t like him at the number that he is asking then go ahead and trade him but I hate Carolina’s front office they are the worst to deal with and they have nothing of interest to give us unless it’s Seth Jarvis, if you really think Necas is worth Hronek 1 for 1 then I have a mountain to sell you.

If it’s a spend of 8 mil on the acquired player then it is better to keep top asset and sign a FA at comp hit. Value is in the spend/cost efficiency as much as the player.
Why is Petterson not an option since signing his contract? His no movement clause doesn’t kick in until 2025/26
Bad trade. Necas isn’t even some world beater as a player. Hronek is a commodity, they should be adding a prospect. I’d be pissed if we did this.
