Brett Veach Is A GENIUS! Chiefs Rumors After Justin Jefferson Contract Extension + Trade Skyy Moore?

[Music] coming up on today’s Chiefs report my name is Harrison Graham I want to dive into Brett v a little bit and give him his flowers because he was ahead of the curve on a big move and we’ll dive into that also could Sky Moore get traded before week one of the NFL season we’ll explore that as well and could Kansas City bring in Patrick Peterson as a veteran Corner option give them some depth think he’s widely renowned as one of if not the best Jam in the National Football League but in an off season where the wide receiver Market has absolutely exploded Kansas City continues to kind of run the sport and they’ve done it without a top wide receiver for two years now I mean you look at what’s happened this off season obviously Justin Jefferson he just resets the market for all non- quarterbacks highest contract in history among non- quarterbacks 35 per year gets 140 on a four-year deal uh Aman Ro St Brown gets a 4-year $120 million contract uh from Detroit which is good for 30 million per year AK K the same as Tyreek hill by the way he got 30 million per year that’s kind of where I’m going with this uh AJ Brown gets 32 million per year Jaylen Wadd gets over 28 million per year he’s not even a number one on his own team that’s Tyreek Hill Devonte Smith Nico Collins uh Michael Pitman Jr Mike Evans all getting over $20 million per year this off season whereas the chief’s highest paid Receiver right now I don’t even know who it is is it cadarius Tony I mean they don’t they don’t have any big money invested in the wide receiver position uh at this point in time and I think Brett vich at the time of trading away Tyreek Hill that was a controversial move I mean you’re talking about a generational talent in his prime who’s helped you win a Super Bowl and helped your quarterback become the guy he is at least we thought and I think D exit did early on in his career and you trade him because you want to pay him Top Dog you don’t want to reset the wide receiver Market but and look did the Chiefs think they were going to win the next two Super Bowls without Tyreek Hill probably not but they did feel confident in their roster construction and more importantly their head coach and quarterback Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes I mean if you revisit this trade Tyreek kill to the Dolphins they got they got a lot for him the Chiefs did but nothing crazy their first round pick they got was 29th overall they got a second a fourth a fourth and a six I mean they got a high volume of picks but it’s not like they got a top 10 pick for arguably the best receiver in football and look what the Chiefs have a receiver Now isn’t special Rashid rice if you know he can get his at cleaned up off the field solid player I don’t think he’s generational Maris Brown good player not generational um you know we’ll see what Xavier worthy becomes uh Kadarius Tony hasn’t worked out sky Moore hasn’t worked out they had Juju Smith Shuster the year after Tyreek Hill like solid player but nothing special the point is is Mahomes can make it work and I think that’s what the Chiefs identified like hey do we want to give Tyreek Hill 5 years $150 million and might do two years ago before this wide receiver Market is exploded or do you want to trade it get some draft picks you’re able to draft a George caraus because of it trade up for McDuffy all this other stuff guys who become core players it was ballsy I came on the show and said I thought it was a mistake and clearly they’ve paid off now I’m not saying these teams paying these receivers were wrong or that these guys shouldn’t get that money I’m just saying when you have a guy like mahom you could afford to do things like this that’s a lesson I’ve learned here like I think everybody is jumping off the bills and Josh Allen who’s not to momes level and they haven’t won to the level just because they’ve traded Stefon Diggs they’ve lost all these key guys I still think the bills are going to be pretty good because Josh Allen is there Mahomes is there how many years did Tom Brady make it work in New England with the Danny amandas the West Walkers of the world sure he had unreal couple of years with Randy Moss just like Mahomes statistically probably had bigger years with Tyreek Hill but from a team roster construction standpoint Patrick Mahomes doesn’t need the best of the best to go win 12 games at a Super Bowl he’s proven that the past couple of years so I I just want to give Brett v a lot of credit I think that was a controversial move at the time it’s obviously paid off well I think the Dolphins are happy with how it’s worked for them but at the end of the day they Haven won a playoff game so um it’s uh it’s just interesting to revisit these trades a couple years later especially now you’re seeing the wide receiver Market explode the Chiefs pay hardly any money for receivers I guess Maris Brown’s their highest PID I should have said that earlier and uh they’re they’re just chugging along just fine grade Brett v as a GM A B C D or F pluses and minus is encouraged I I don’t see how it’s not an A+ I mean the guy just continues to make good decisions drafts well uh it’s uh it’s it’s a hell of a job this guy has done okay let’s go to this portion of the show sticking with the receiver theme Sky Moore Bleacher Report naming him as a potential Chiefs trade candidate and my initial thought is I mean you get anything for him uh he reportedly did not have a great week at OTAs last week that’s not a great sign for a receiver entering year three who is really struggled to find any form of consistency whatsoever he’s had untimely drops hasn’t been able to get open consistently I mean through 30 games of his career doesn’t even have 500 yards receiving and this is one I missed on I mean and I think the Chiefs obviously did too but I think a lot of teams like skymore coming out of Western Michigan and it just has not worked for whatever reason like it’s almost like his rookie year when he was struggling to catch punts remember he muffed a couple it just seemed like that killed his confidence and that has carried over for two years in all aspects of his job like he doesn’t even return punts anymore and but he just has not been a major contributor at receiver I said last week I think one of him or caderas Tony is probably not on this team I mean would you get a sixth for skymore I mean maybe a team throws you something like that he’s got two years left on his rookie deal there’s some talent in there obviously but it just is not translated and I’m surprised cuz he’s the type of receiver that the Chiefs have had a lot of success with smaller guy quick in theory should be someone who gets open quite a bit and clearly that has just not been the case for Sky Moore in Kansas City what do you guys think do you think Sky Moore’s on this team come week one type why for yes type in for no I mean I don’t know I I don’t think he’s a lock to make the roster I again I think one of himmer cadarius Tony is probably out of here and you know fair or not Tony’s got more Talent than Sky Moore so they might give him another chance the Rashid rice potential suspension plays a role in this as well cuz that’ll free up a roster spot to start the year but yeah that’s I don’t know I I I think it’s 50/50 right now for Sky Moore let’s go to free agency signing Patrick Peterson again Bleacher Report suggesting this is a potential depth piece for Kansas City I’ll read what they say then react uh Christopher Knox saying that Patrick Peterson would also make plenty of sense for the Chiefs who traded lerus sne this off season Kansas City has a couple of talented young corners and Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffy and you can’t forget Joshua Williams who is often ignored despite major strides in 2023 a championship caliber defense can never have too much quarterback depth and if Peterson is looking to finish his career with a ring there isn’t a more attractive team for him than the Chiefs now I definitely agree with that last part two Diamond defending champs come on board be kind of a mentor and Chase a ring but overall I kind of disagree with the premise because I don’t see it as where Patrick Peterson starts for this football team the raw numbers the last few years look pretty decent right 11 breakups two picks last year second half of the year though really fell off a cliff um he’s still been a guy that’s been able to get hands on footballs but his coverage like Advanced coverage stats just have not been there and I look at the Chiefs where is he going to play like Jaylen Watson has basically been a starter for two years we know Trent McDuffy is your best corner he’s probably going to play more outside this year sounds like Josh Williams has started quite a bit this year he’s a young or the last couple years he he’s a young guy like unless Watson or Williams takes a big step back and I I do think a notable step back Peterson’s what your CB4 at best and you need your depth Corners to play special teams is 33-year-old Patrick Peterson going to strap up on special teams I doubt it uh so look I actually don’t think it’s an ideal fit um if he’s looking to still play and contribute and you know he played some safety late last year well you’ve got like three or four safeties right now you drafted Jaden Hicks out of Wazoo who they like so I just don’t think there’s a role for him here so uh I don’t think he ends up in Kansas City I disagree with the idea that it’s a good fit name a free agent that you think the chief should sign I don’t think Patrick Peterson is that guy I I I I think left tackle is still an area I I would look at whether you bring back Donovan Smith or you know see if David bakari is healthy enough to go maybe bring him in here or you know I’m looking at that defensive fly get another pass rusher in here while Charles and minue recovers from a torn ACL drop a name down in the
