Assistant coach is a better spot for him. You could tell he couldnโt handle the head coach position but does well in the assistant role

Lane is a good assistant coach, but not a good head honcho.
Maybe one day he gets another shot in the NHL but his first stint as head coach wasn’t so pretty (but there are coaches who get jobs with worse track records soooooo)

Edit: It actually claims he will be an associate coach not an assistant which is like a step up. Sounds like he will have more impact on things than an assistant actually in this role. I just cant edit the title
