Hey folks,
We're very happy to announce an AMA today at 3pm ET with David St-Louis, a hockey analyst and prospects writer for Elite Prospects. I'm sure many of you are familiar with his outstanding work.
The EP 2024 NHL Draft Guide (Paywall)
Video Analysis: Ivan Demidov Is A Player Like You've Never Seen Before
Feel free to ask him questions in both English AND French regarding Habs prospects & eligible prospects at the upcoming NHL draft.
We’re grateful to David for coming back to do another AMA this year before the NHL draft, so let’s welcome him again to the community.

Salut David!
Merci!
Who’s your favourite under the radar prospect and why?
How much do you think Lindstrom is being propped up by good line mates?
Hi David, thanks for this!
Hope you don’t mind a dive into some revisionist history.
If you could choose Leonard/Parekh or Reinbacher/Iginla to add to your team, which duo would you pick?
Hi David! I love your work, especially your video breakdowns.
Question: Who are two prospects you were wrong about? One who is better than you expected and one who didn’t pan out as you predicted.
Thanks!
Hello there! Thanks for this, your draft guide is awsome btw. So, do you think about Justin Porier? Good idea to take him with our late second or the third?
why do u think eiserman’s draft value has fallen off so much? many ppl suggest it is bc he is very one-dimensional, but the habs are in need of a “shoot first” type of player. do u think martin st. louis can turn him into a more well rounded player like how he has done so with caufield? iirc caufield was also touted as a one-dimensional sniper when he was first drafted and he has developed his 2-way game quite dramatically over the past season. do u think it would be worth it to trade up in the draft using the WPG pick to acquire eiserman? or do u not see him as a valuable pick?
if demidov is gone at 5, between lindstrom and sennecke, which do u think would better fit the habs current roster and which do u project would have a higher ceiling? how would u compare the two?
Hi David, How would you compare Iginla to Leonard last year?
Also saw on the draft guide (which is fantastic) you all have Iginla a fair few spots higher than Sennecke. Do you think it would be a mistake if Sennecke was the pick at 5 over Iginla?
Hi David!
You often use the reasoning that many smaller defensman who struggle to defend have failed in the NHL recently, using the example of guys like Brannstrom, to bump down a guy like Alfons Freij for example. Why doesn’t that same standard apply to Zayne Parekh, ranked 6th by EP? Thanks!
(Also btw there’s an error in the draft guide the linus eriksson write-up is just a copy paste of the lucas pettersson write-up. Just so someone knows!)
Hi David,
Which unexpected prospect in the Draft Habs fans should be keeping an eye on, which we may have missed due to looking at usual names?
Salut David,
Merci!
pronman of the Athletic has doubled down on demidov falling to 5, how likely do u think this is to happen in a D-heavy draft?
based on chicago, anaheim, and columbus’ current organizational needs, do u believe that any of those teams would actually pass up on him? or is it just a pipe dream?
Thanks David.
Of these main attributes measured:
**Skating – Shooting – Passing – Puckhandling – Hockey IQ – Physicality**
Which is the attribute(or which combinations) most important in the NHL and why?
who would u say of the top prospects (excluding celebrini and demidov) would u say has the highest ceiling? who has the highest floor? are there any prospects within that group that u deem as “boom or bust”?
personally i have my doubts about silayev, do u think that many ppl are overrating him due to his height? would he be another tyler myers? or is he more skilled?
Hey David I was wondering what’s the thought process in evaluating someone like Sennecke. He had such a weird season both production wise, but also with his growth spurts and all. How do you rank someone who has clear potentials but is unclear wether he can put everything together and could easily bust?
Salut David!
