How to feel about this guy? I don’t know much besides a sick name

I like this. Promote someone from within who knows the system and has experience working with the group. I’m not 100% sure but I thought I heard that Yogi is really well regarded among the players.
Obviously the Sedins being involved more day-to-day is great. Hope that means they are taking over some powerplay duties as well.
Edit: I just heard on D&D that Dhali thinks Yogi is going to run the powerplay. He said that Yogi played a big part in players like Joshua developing their skills.

They must feel the players are lacking flexibility if they’re naming a Yogi as an assistant coach.

I hope the Sedins coach our first unit Powerplay next season.

My understanding is that he’s a skills guy. I’m hoping they’re still bringing somebody in to focus on the PP.

I admit I don’t know anything about Švejkovský but I anticipate he’ll be a good presence to have on the bench.
We are reaping the rewards of having the AHL farm team so close by. Great to hear the Sedin’s will continue to have a presence in Abby but also an increased role for Vancouver. That’s awesome.

Hopefully we’re not promoting this guy cause we’re broke

Yogi was the unsung hero on the Giants staff for a heck of a long time. Bright guy and bringing him on full-time was a good choice.

Absolutely wild seeing the guy who did skill camps for minor hockey in Richmond get more and more involved in the big show. This is well deserved.

Is yogi gonna take over the powerplay duties? And which coaches will be on the bench during a game? Foote definitely, but isn’t gonchar like a part time assistant coach?
CrayonOlympics
Yogi has been a long time fixture both in the Vancouver Canucks organization and also in this community as a skills coach for young players and with the Vancouver Giants as well so it’s really cool to see him get a promotion like this.
I do wonder what the future is for the Twins. They seem happy in this development/extra coach role thing but I wonder if they want eventually to take on something more official or if they will be happy with the roles they have

Per Dhaliwal, Yogi is the new PP coach

Probably a good move? Yeo was in charge of penalty killing last year and we were ranked 17th in the league.
One thing I like about Canucks current managements is if you aren’t a fit for the position… you’re gone (or moved like they did with Chris Higgins). Or maybe they just weren’t willing to sign him to a longer contract than Toch? The sens gave him 3 years, we offered 1.

Rutherford and co. drafted his son Lukas to PIT back in 2020

My buddy played NCAA Div 1 hockey and worked with Yogi a few times over the years. He said he’s one of the most knowledgeable coaches on the technical side of hockey he’s ever met.

Do the Sedins still live in Vancouver?
BoaDeconstructor
Yogi is smarter than your average coach. Just be sure that when you attend games that you hide your pic-a-nic baskets, Boo-Boo.

Doesn’t really say what Sedins are more involved with but i’m hoping it’s to fix our PP#1

I had no idea Lukas’s dad worked for us. That’s fucking awesome
superschaap81
I’m very curious what brought him to the Vancouver area to begin with. Given his NHL time was mostly spent with the Capitals during the late 90’s.

I read this as ‘Sedins are day-to-day’ and immediately thought, “Aw fuck, here we go again with the injuries. Even with the coahes!”

Well there is Mikey Yeo’s replacement
