Free Agency – so who do we want?

https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/free-agents

I think Reinhart would be good for us. Pipe dream?

Edit: I think Carolina will be a solid shopping place for us. Thoughts?

Reinhart is either re-signing with Florida or taking top dollar from like, Utah or somebody. He’s not signing with the Rangers.

  2. wmciner1

We defiitely don’t have Sam Reinhart cap space

  3. gibson531

If Igor gets $12 million, which he deserves, are we going to be able to afford anyone?

  4. JPmoneyman

Reinhart is a pipe dream, he’s likely staying in Florida or getting a massive contract elsewhere. Duclair might make sense but I would like to see us get heavier up front which isn’t really his game. Our ability to sign free agents really depends on if we want to move or can move some current big contracts. If we move on from Trouba and Goodrow I think we can sign a decent player but you also gotta remember that next offseason Laf and Shesterkin are due for big raises so handing out a 5+ million dollar contract for multiple years might not be a good idea. If I had to guess I think we will be more active in making trades this offseason than signing any big name players. I think there will be a pretty big shakeup on this roster, I don’t see them running it back with the same group plus a few plug ins but I think it happens via trade.

  5. I doubt we’re getting anyone on that first page

Save that money for the idea of McDavid in two years.

  7. Mills_Miles

Hoping for a RW1, but depends entirely on who we can get for good value. Reinhard’s price is gonna be too steep. Drouin maybe?
These thoughts are also negated if management is gonna ride with Chytil once he’s back to full health. I won’t pretend I know

  8. Bread_man10

Zero shot we sign Reinhart. I have a better chance at getting signed

  9. Kucherov81

Pesce, don’t know any of the specifics of how it would work but he’s as solid of a defenseman as they come.

  10. coghia13

If we move on from KK, lindgren, goodrow, and trouba we’d have some spending flexibility

  11. IceTheChilled

One of Guentzel/Marchessault for RW1 and one of Tanev/DeMelo/Carrier for RD.

Getting rid of Trouba, Goodrow, Lindgren.

  12. rydaley77

Necas has to be a primary target. Also hoping for a big move for another defensemen

    Y’all are sleeping on bertuzzi

Imagine him on a line with rempe and edstrom

  14. Chatfield, Mike Reilly, Jake DeBrusk, Mark Friedman

How much space are we expected to have?

  16. I’d really want a winger. Marchessault, Ehlers, Duchene, Konecy are all people I’d want via Free agency or trade. I think cap space won’t be a problem for next year but the season after where laf and Igor get new contracts even miller, cuylle, and jones will be getting new contracts even though they likely won’t get significant increases it’s still not helping. I think something in the 6 millions would be around the maximum where we could make it work asssuming laf and Igor get about 7.5 and 10 million.

I would also look into maybe cheaper options that are guys who have good even strength stats that don’t get as many minutes. Obviously it’s less of a sure thing but could be a cheaper option in both acquiring the player and gives us a better chance at filling out our roster down the road. Guys like Nick Robertson, Pavel Dorofeyev, Daniel Sprong, Nils Hoglander, Connor Garland, Dakota Joshua, Anthony Mantha, Nic Roy are all players that have performed well 5v5 taking their toi into consideration. Obviously some would be through free agency and some through trade, and some would be easier than others and are more realistic but I think those players are all possibilities and people who can kind of take that next step if given more ice time. Sticking one of them with Mika could work who knows. Not all are the same position but I kinda of just looked at players without diving too deep. They would help save money in comparison to other guys listed in the first paragraph tho.

I think we have lots of assets as well, we have all of our first round picks, as well as prospects that might not make our team in the future because of our rosters but have some potential with them.

Ehlers to me is very interesting if we could trade and extend him. He’s at the top of the league at 5v5 production and I think we could really use that. I think his extension would be in the 6.5-7 million range so it’s tricky but doable. Only issue is the jets probably want to trade laterally and get an nhl player back as they are a playoff team rather than getting picks/prospects for him.

  17. roscomikotrain

I want Anthony Duclair to come home.
Andrew Mangiapane can be had for the cheap too- I think the flames are ready to deal

  18. CandidateNo1984

Anyone who battles back when hit hard , being physical, letting the other team know there will be retaliation for any cheap hits. Is there anyone out there available.? And if so, can he get his teammates do the same. And hope the coach doesn’t put a leash on them .Exactly what was the purpose of having Rempe in the lineup? sure as hell wasn’t for him to do as described above .

  19. Shiny_Mew76

Kind of would like someone like Kapenen. He could really help us on the breakout with his speed. Pesce would also be great.

  20. SmartesdManAlive

I like Necas, he was dangerous on every rush against us in Car

  21. Key-Tip-7521

It’s a pipe dream w/Reinhart. bill pidto would love it lol. But I think what this team needs is a RW, someone who can play north/south, get shots from the slot more, and is a power forward.

Also, a large left handed dman as well. Much needed as well.

  22. PaulMarnersFurHat

I don’t care about free agency vs trade but we should acquire at least one of Brady Tkachuk, Travis Konecny, Tyler Bertuzzi, or Trent Frederic. I also wouldn’t mind signing Marchessault to a short term deal.
