As it would turn out, Nelson was feeling good enough later in the period to put a high hit on Pat Maroon into the Islanders net…… where 3 iron pipes are located……..
Luckily Maroon missed all of them on the way down.
I've seen worse… but it was a dumb thing to do purely because there was zero reason to do it. Pointless. Whether or not you think it was worthy of any supplementary action… it would at least be an interference and it was 100000% unnecessary.

Would the 5 min major have stood if he didn't get hurt? The penalty itself would have stayed because as soon as he got hit, the ref put up his arm
