  1. Every coach that lasts in the NHL learns things along the way, and hopefully Rick Tocchet will too. Obviously, if he's going to be lazy on the back check, that's not going to work. But expecting every player to get into the corners or behind the net and dig pucks out is a bit much. You need guys on every line who do that effectively, obviously, but you also need players who can make plays and go to the net and finish. If they don't hit or dig pucks out of corners, that shouldn't be a problem as long as there are other guys doing that. Every player is different. Asking Elias Pettersson to play like JT Miller is ridiculous. They do different things and have to play to their strengths.
