Did this piss off Leafs fans?

Zach Hyman noted that Toronto Maple Leaf fans may not be cheering for his team as the Edmonton Oilers are the only Canadian hope left to win the Stanley Cup. #hockey #edmontonoilers #torontomapleleafs

  1. Edmonotn Oilers have achieved what no politician could ever achieve. they have united Canada. Lets Go Oliers!!!

  2. Another classic example of Leafs Management letting another amazing player go. Poor coaching , GM and President, Good luck Hyman, I am cheering for you and Edmonton all the way

  3. Im a Toronto fan just as much as I'm an Oilers fan, and for me, if anything, im super happy for the guy. Toronto obviously wasnt the team for him and edmonton gave him the opportunity and whatever he needed to break out to the player he is today. I dont think if he stayed in Toronto it would of played out nearly as good for him.
Torontos management staff is also a big joke and the reason they've gotten no where the past 20 years.

  4. Edmonton right now is Canada's team. if you disagree that's your opinion, just don't root for them. It's not like anybody is forcing you

  5. Leaf fans aren’t pissed Hyman’s in the finals—they’re pissed Leafs management couldn’t find d the cap space to keep him.

  6. Cheering by postal code is stupid. I’d rather see the Habs and Sens forfeit and fold their franchises than wish them any success.

    Isn’t that what rivalry is?

  7. I won’t cheer for Toronto, ever. When Wendell Clarke ((Saskatchewan), played I couldn’t cheer for Toronto.

  8. People are finally understanding that those wild Boston Pizza Ads about Canadians "Teaming Up For The Cup" Is actually onto something. Now listen, if you want to remain dedicated to a team, nobody is gunna stop you. I only ask don't take it out on those wanting to continue with the series and follow another team. Don't call us "Not Real Hockey fans" or "Not How it works". I don't see anyone attack people for being dedicated, so keep that opinion to yourself, we will have ours.

Now onto my point. Boston Pizza is REALLY ONTO SOMETHING here. I live closest to Toronto, and I follow ALL Canadian Hockey, especially my favorites, the Vancouver Canucks. Hell, some of the USA Teams too, New Jersey Devils, Detroit Red Wings, and my favorites from USA, the San Jose Sharks, I LOVE ALL HOCKEY. However, this season is different. Think of it this way, it's been more than 30 years that the Stanley Cup has come north of the Border AT ALL. At this point, to hell with who the cup goes to, the country itself needs that Cup, and BAD. It would be a huge moment in Canadian Hockey, and literally Canadian History, a team breaking the drought to win the cup for Canada. this isn't about "Which team takes it back to their city", this is about a battle to bring the Trophy back for your COUNTRY. If you're a Canadian, the Oilers winning will benefit every team North of the Border, and gives the current Canadian teams a dream to chase, and a light at the end of the tunnel.

So if you like the Canucks, Flames, Jets, Habs, Sens, Maple Leafs, Oilers, and even any ol Whalers or Nordiques fans, the Country needs ya, and the Oilers need you. WE GOT SOME BOYS TO CHEER!!!

If you're with me, SAY IT LOUD!! LET'S GO OILERS!!!

  9. It seems every spring a former Maple Leaf is hoisting Lord Stanley's cup (although never a Leaf, I include Stamkos as an honorary member for turning down the Leaf's offer before winning two cups with the Lightning). It seems the best way for a Leaf to win the Cup is to do it with another team. Good luck Zach!

  10. Evander Kane , Cory Perry , Zach Hyman all decided on Edmonton because they all saw something in the team. Leafs offered Hyman a deal he just plain out said no to. Kane had many teams wanting his service after San Jose terminated his contract. Perry had many teams wanting him after Chicago terminated his contract. You could say these guys are just jumping on the bandwagon but Hyman has earned his keep and Kane as well. Perry dose kinda fee like he just jumped on to win but the guy knows how to pick them this is his 5th finals appearance on different teams.

  11. I wish the Oilers all the best, but Florida has played extremely well in returning to the Cup Finals this year.
Zack was good for Toronto, but McDavid has helped elevate his game to the next level.
Panthers in 5 or 6, sadly.

  12. The smartest moves for MLSE will transpire as follows: Have Marner play out his contract and not resign him. Players on their final year of expiring contracts play harder. Once Draisaitl is available end of next year they should put the best offer forward to acquire his superior services. The current highest paid player on the Leafs couldn't care less about winning in the playoffs. 34 wouldn't sign for eight years here as he wants to keep his options open, so four years is all he gave us. If the Leafs wimp out again in next years playoffs then get rid of Prima Donna Matthews and go after McDavid when he comes available the following year. Who cares if he scores 80 regular season goals. If he can't dominate in the playoffs we don't need him. He'll be more than happy to go play in La La land. Then take the 13.25M he's getting and use it to bring in McDavid for 15M. While we're at it bring back Hyman, who's the Du(m)bass that let him go…Of course the pecker heads in charge don't have the balls, or are willing to follow through with the best moves for the team..Bowmanville Dave

  13. I remember seeing Hyman playing for Michigan in Ann Arbor about 10 years ago. Good player but I like the cup staying here in America for another 30 years. Go Panthers.

  14. Cheering for team full of American, Russian, and European players just because they play in a Canadian city seems a bit silly. Last year’s champs had the most Canadians on its roster of any team. This year the Oilers have many Canadians on their squad. As a hockey fan, I want to see the best team win regardless of where they are from or where they play. (It just helps to have a lot of Canadians on the team)
