  1. I agree with your statements. There was no reason not to bring up Etham Frank this season to give him a try. The Caps were struggling most of the season. I think players are looking at Hunter Shepard sitting at the AHL level and thinking twice about resigning with the Caps.

    I think Ethan Frank would do much better getting an opportunity at the NHL level with another team. I love Ethan Frank and just don't see him succeeding with this organization. This is why I feel Joe is looking at the KHL.

  2. It’s hard to overestimate the effect speed has on a hockey team. With a speedster like Frank, opposing D have to back off which makes his line mates immediately better. Then there’s back checking, which is hard to measure. During the Cap’s old and slow era how many times have we seen them struggle to move the puck up the ice? Faster teams will get back and break up the play. If we have faster players doing that for us, how many of those plays would have resulted in offensive zone time for the opposition? How many goals scored? Can’t be measured..but we would get better defensively…
