MONTREAL CANADIENS NEWS: A NEW DEAL

Two-year, entry-level contract for Jared Davidson
The forward registered 16 points in 38 games with the Laval Rocket this season

Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Friday that the team has agreed to terms on a two-year, entry-level contract (2024-25 to 2025-26) with forward Jared Davidson.

Davidson played 38 games with the Laval Rocket in the AHL in 2023-24, recording 16 points (11 G, 5A) in his first year as a professional. The 21-year-old centerman ranked third among Rocket rookies in goals, trailing only Logan Mailloux and Joshua Roy.

Before making the jump to the AHL, Davidson appeared in 254 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL from 2018 to 2023. The 6-foot, 183-pound forward totaled 210 points (99G, 111A) in five seasons in Seattle. Davidson won the Ed Chynoweth Cup with the Thunderbirds in 2022-23, awarded to the WHL playoffs champions, before reaching the Memorial Cup final where they were bested by the Quebec Remparts.

Davidson was selected by the Canadiens in the fifth round (130th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft.

  1. I watched Jared in the Mem Cup and I liked his sand, and drive. He will be a playoff performer no matter what league he is in. Habs should concentrate on his development over the next 2 years and then bring him up the the NHL!

  2. Free land, gifts, and extraordinary investments. Geez! Promises galore, but waste our taxes. Climate change is defeated because the raise in co2s of o.3% has increased the growth of greenery by an amazing 15% in the last 10 years. We will have our streets & airports overcome by grass and trees. taxes will grow by a larger margin but that's Science. Taxes have to increase to fight this new threat. It's a JUNGLE OUT THERE! More Co2s feeds the growth of trees grasses etc. Butt political science didn't see that so attacked it with taxes so the next attack will save the world from the new scourge!! It's a jungle out there! SCIENCE??????

  3. Good luck to Davidson!

    Has Montreal changed its scouts?

Who's in charge of bringing in prospects?

In the past, I've heard of teams keeping some scouts anonymous at times.

If they're not on salary, they don't report who they are.

Just curious – coaching changes are known, scouting changes are not.

Montreal seems to be building a strong stable of stallions. 🐎
