It’s Mailbag Friday and that means Hunter and Pat are here to answer your questions. They start the first segment with questions about the goaltending situation. They try to answer what Kyle Dubas and Co. will do in net and whether Taylor Gauthier will start the season in WBS. They also try to predict if Joel Blomqvist is ready before diving into some prospect talk. They answer which prospects could be ready for the season, and also discuss the 2024 NHL Draft. Hunter teases a player that’s going to be on his Penguins-specific draft board and how he could be available in the second round. They also discuss what the biggest needs should be for Kyle Dubas this offseason before answering some fun questions to end the show, including our favorite Penguins memories, what some of our other favorite sports are, and so much more. Stay tuned for Part 2 next week!

i have question what about russian goalie we have marushov what are they gonna do with him ??
Thanks for the show guys ❤ 🐧
NHL 24 trade… haha
Pitts:
Jarry
Graves
Smith
Bos:
Ullmark
Debrusk sign and trade
Done deal…. Haha
As I've mentioned before I'd love to get Sam Bennett from Florida. That said another player of there's might also work E-Rod. He's a right wing that can play center.
Rakell-sid-rust
Bunting-geno-E-Rod
Also moves doc to third line, and still leaves cap space to get new 3rd line center or scoring 3rd line right wing
Maybe FSG could get Jarry a meditation coach like Skinner’s
Pens are not going anywhere far too soft, disgusting too watch it all year !
Thanx for including my question fellas I know I pitched mine last second. Love the content and attention y’all give them prospects workin down in the Wheel.
Was at old Jersey arena when I lived in NJ when I was a teenager, Kasperitis was last one warming up, then he started slapping shots down the ice at Chris Terrari and another Devil player ,the crowd was booing so loud,it was so funny!
Thanks for my question. But never answered the second half of it lol. Thanks for a great episode. Have a good weekend you two. 🍺
The thing that would prevent me from pursuing signing Ned for a big deal would be the inconsistency. Last season, he had 48.5% for Quality Starts percentage. League average is 53%. Tristan Jarry had a 60.4%.
If the Pens don't resign Ned, I'd like to see them give Blomqvist a chance to win the spot, in camp, and, if he doesn't show that he's ready to be a #2 or 1B, then trade for a backup to Jarry and send Joel back to WBS for a bit of seasoning, especially with the new coaching in WBS.
My favorite Penguins moment will always be Lemieux's final NHL goal, not exactly a memorable one vs Montreal but after he got caught with a stick high up near the eye from a 'follow through' behind the play with the man advantage and goes down (Yes Kerry Fraser was a ref in this game, go figure). He gets up _THANKFULLY_, and shakes it off then a shift later with the man advantage about to expire, takes the offensive faceoff and wins it, gets into position and deflects a perfect centering dish from #33 Ziggy Palffy from the right wall (Fun Fact: He also assisted in Sid's first NHL goal) it goes past Theodore just as the powerplay is about to run out. Gets goal #690 in a Shootout win, showing his resilience and all he had to go through his entire career. Me being barely a teenager at the time where I was somewhat cognitive enough to know about hockey in particular is some of my earliest memories regarding hockey, this stands out to me the end of one era and the beginning of another. That and one of my school teachers was from Pittsburgh and had a Lemieux picture on the desk. Also a playing factor in beginning my Pittsburgh fandom after the Steelers won the Super Bowl in Detroit. To quote the great Gary Thorne, "YOU GOTTA LOVE IT!" ;]
Ok I hear you, the Jarry devils trade is unrealistic how about Jarry for Luke Hughes… And who's the other guy Jack Hughes? Yeah we'll take him. Timo Meier's good…and fuck it lets take the branding too, the pittsburgh devils. And honestly we'll just keep Jarry. Tom Fitzgerald what do you say? 🤝 Alright sir good doing business with you
Ullmark would be an upgrade to Jarry and Ned. But remember his save% with Buffalo was .912, which ironically is Jarry’s with the Pens. So I wouldn’t expect the Ullmark we saw in Boston. The real issue all along is Pittsburgh’s poor defensive structure and propensity to give up odd man breaks, similar to Buffalo. Ullmark has benefited from playing with arguably the best defensive team in the league.
You guys are a joy to watch and have both made each other better as time’s gone on! Being in NC, I don’t get much of another outlet to engage with Pens fans, so this show has been a great way to stay connected. You guys together make it worth coming back to over and over. Keep up the good work!
