I was at the game booing Montgomery and Allen thereafter. TL took too long to pull either pitcher and that is the Dbacks in a nutshell. Well, except the young roster means inconsistent play still too. Pitching was the main issue last year as it is every year. KK spends on the wrong fella almost everytime he tries to bring in a big arm. Grienke was solid but had no team to back him and Goldy during the run.
Spring training to some SP if not most os very important, thats the reason why pitchers and catchers report a couple weeks before. Perfect example of a SP needing a spring training and being huge for them is Rodon, he is healthy and had a spring training this year, having a solid season compared to last year.
Snell and monty no spring training and its the obvious.
Never liked him as a yankee, very average, he did well last year and yes, yankee fans wanted him back 🤦♂️

Arizona is basically a wild card team given how close things are and you'd kick a proven postseason arm to the curb because had a bad month. Nobody is catching the Dodgers…nobody. The NL West is essentially about SF, AZ, and SD fighting for wild card slots and everybody knows that.
AZ signed Montgomery because they need pitching late in the season. It might work out or it might not, but that's baseball.
If this game started, why not just move him to the bullpen
As a Yankees fan, I watched Jordan for a long time and was never overly impressed. Always thought he had average stuff. He's capable of playing well and winning games but he's always looked totally average and getable to me. I shed no tears when they traded him
Personally, I think he looks marvelous with that smooth delivery of his. The fact that it's of no value
in a ballgame isn't important as long as he looks good standing there with his nicely crafted beard.

Its an open secret among us Yankee fans that the Montgomery-Bader trade was more about getting rid of Montgomery than it was about getting Bader. Then the Cards get rid of him , then the Rangers make no attempt to keep him, then no one wants to sign him. I think its fair to speculate that there is a problem with Montgomery.
I’ve always been leery about Montgomery. Ever since hearing David describe him as a “serviceable pitcher on a mediocre team without playoff aspirations.” Thinking he rode a perfect wave last year, both with the Cardinals and Texas.” As for the future, “we’ll see.”

This is a moronic take… the dude is 9 starts into the season, is on a new club and has no spring training. For a team that is hoping to be a wild card, there’s absolutely no chance they cut him to save $20-25m.
