coach Jim Montgomery and what he expects out of the Bruins tonight you know just to continue to grow our execution defensively and offensively I do expect us to have our best game tonight yeah and uh again if they get Brad marshand in there then they’ll be in a little better shape but uh the Bruins though without all of those major scoring weapons they had in the past it’s hurt them and that’s not and and that’s not to take away from what they’ve done it’s just a fact that this was a team that had the most points in anel history last year they were a complete machine losing some of those pieces I mean they still had a shot to win the division going to the final few days of the season but it’s just not the same and the panther the Panthers done a great job slowing down David posh in the series they’ve done a great job with that now it’s just about not having other guys that the mavo the geeky you know all these other players that uh you know can step up or maybe score a goal uh when they need it so we’ll see how it all turns out now after the break we will go to Boston we’ll go to TD Garden and we’re going to speak with Doug plagens and Billy Lindsay get their thoughts on game tonight he’s out there in warm-ups guys he was out there for warm-ups and as far as the uh final roster sheeter I shouldn’t say final still waiting for the official uh announcement if you will but it looks like they have him listed as an active for tonight on the sheet that I have unless that were to get refreshed it looks like he’s uh on the list I personally would be surprised if he wasn’t in the lineup tonight so I would uh I would just plan accordingly for number 63 to be in a Bruin’s uniform this Brad marand was out there full particip participant in morning skate took all of the warm up and spoke to the media yesterday and spoke to the media yesterday with some very poignant comments to go along with it Brad Maran is going to play and obviously this Bruins team would need his help just because you know I mentioned earlier and we said this the other night too guys that a lot of names of the past the Bruins aren’t there anymore they’ve shut down David posto that just having marshand in there is not only going to be like an emotional lift but also they need a scoring lip too and even though he’s been out for a couple of games still leads Boston in points here in these playoffs and he’s one of those guys and Billy you could probably elaborate on this but there are certain guys on every team where even if they’re not 100% you’ll still take whatever they’ve got just because it means more even than what they’re able to do on the ice sometimes it’s just what they bring being on the bench being involved and I’d imagine on the Boston side Brad Marian one of those guys yeah Brad marand is one of those guys he plays with Tempo plays with energy and he he he’s not liked on the other side but in that that dressing room and here in the city of Boston he’s beloved there’s going to be an uproar as soon as he comes out takes that opening lap and the teammates are glad to have him in the dressing room he can turn the tide in a game and he depending on what the injury was there’s a chance that if he was able to skate there’s fresher legs under Brad marshand as well not only could he be healed from the injury he could have benefited from the injury in in some way this Boston team is deep they POS some problems but the Panthers got to worry about themselves uh they can’t worry about what’s on the other side they got to come out with a better start to this game than they did in game number five and Paul Maurice was talking about it they got to be more connected play a little bit closer together and cut down that time and space Boston was able to have last game what do you think the issue was in game five was it just uh was it thinking all right we’re going to advance to the next round let’s just get through this game or just Boston played that much better than them uh in game five well Paul mace said that night he wasn’t thrilled with the overall game but the start specifically and it still ended up being a tight game I think that’s one of the things and we’ll hear from Paul Maurice when we get to our Network pregame here in about 10 minutes or so had a chance to catch up with him and one of the things we talked about was even though he wasn’t thrilled with the game in the end it still ended up being close and the Panthers still in the final seconds had a chance right up until the very end to try and get that game tied up so it ended up being close but what Paul Maurice said Billy you probably elaborate on this because I think you started to point to notice noticing some of this very early on in the hockey game he said that specifically early the way they were moving the puck last game just wasn’t suitable to the kind of game that they want to play the the icings uh getting the passes on the stick and that leads down into the your your point K Raj and what went wrong at the start of that game it’s it was between the ears mental execution but that also starts with your legs uh first time that I saw maybe some fatigue creep into the Panthers as a group as a team and it happens in the playoffs you’re not always going to have your legs you’re not always going to have it have everything clicking on all cylinders and that was the case it got better as the game went on as Doug was mentioning they they were in it right till the very end but there it was a game when the legs going in at the start you just didn’t have the energy didn’t have the jump needed and Boston was able to get that first goal keep the lead they never did Trail in that game uh if it can be a different story here in Boston you get that opening goal and come out with more Tempo I expect this Boston hasn’t had a layoff either they played eight games in 15 nights they get a couple of days off the Panthers get two games off this game is going to have a total different look in a total different complexion than game five this one’s going to been be a barn burner in my estimation and also too you know we saw with the Rangers last night they had the three nothing series lead Carolina won two Carolina looked like they were win three in a row before the Rangers rallied back you want to avoid that game seven I think the Panthers don’t want to say oh it’s fine we have game seven at home you know no matter what that they want you get this thing done with tonight yeah I think for the Panthers sake uh this their second chance to close it out they’ve been really good on the road well documented we’ve talked about a lot all season this team’s comfortable being on the road they’re comfortable here in Boston they’ve won their last five playoff games played inside this building going back to last season that being said Billy getting to your point I don’t know how much a team thinks about that but I know teams like to defend their home ice and I’d imagine there are some guys on the Boston side who are saying hey we’re we’re tired of getting pushed around by Florida inside our own building so hopefully the Panthers can keep that Trend going but there’s no doubt in my mind that’s got to serve as some fuel over on the Boston side it does serve as fuel on the Boston side and the closeout game is always the hardest one to win when you’re trying to win and finish off another team and Boston’s well aware of what happened last year with Panthers being down 3-1 in that series crawling all the way back and they wanted some Vengeance coming into this series and they won that opening game lose three but it’s in the back of their mind and these teams were separated by one point in the course of the regular season they’re both really good and it should be tight uh what I’m expecting is 2-1 3-2 you’re going to have to get the bounces to go your way uh you got to work to get to that blue paint those dirty areas it’s going to be a physical Affair and you’re you just you’re you’re hanging on because if it goes to game seven all of a sudden it becomes like an Olympic gold medal game or something thrown everything’s so just it just you forget about the first six games and focus on that one so the Panthers trying to do it and they want to get it done because the Rangers if they do get it done the Rangers are already sitting at home resting and the Panthers will have to go onto the road so the Finish quicker you can finish off the series The Better Doug plin and Billy lindsy have the game five loss a couple of nights ago well the pace of our game I I thought we were careful and and when we do that when we play that game our for check really doesn’t get established there was some the Tells for me in the bench but I used still fcking off a lot in the first period rather not connecting on our plays um and and that just put them in an R end of the ice and kind of fed that fire we had the chances for them four nothing in the first period um that’s not a huge number the zero is a huge number for us we we we don’t do that and then and then we were 10- six for the next two so it was an even game uh a close game but we just felt you’ll always look at a loss and and there are places that you think you can get better I think we can play a faster game at the same time is it encouraging you guys come up on the short end but you were right there the whole night and in the final seconds there you still had a golden opportunity to get the game tied up I mean it was you guys were right there yeah playoffs the emotions are extreme so a loss feels like it and then once the emotions go away and you watch the game it was a tight game it was a one goal game and that’s really what it should be I think I think what happened in the games you know two through four um you got some big scores right 51 61 and the expectation is kind of score well for for those fans at home that watch the Carolina Ranger game this series doesn’t look anything like that that that was a chance a minute this is a harder grind right now for both teams to to manufacture offense both teams are good defensive team so it should be a tight game and you got a couple of guys who I’m sure have been anxious to get back into the lineup who going to get back in there tonight I know for you guys it’s been a good problem to have when you have this much depth and and deeper now than you were one year ago at this time no doubt about it so what’s the the thought process to getting lomber cousins back in here here tonight well there wasn’t a a reason to come out in terms of extreme poor play that just wasn’t and that I feel the same way about uh Loren and ooso who played very well didn’t love I felt the same way about their game as maybe I felt about the teams there was good things there were things we’d like to see them do better but I’ve got these two fresh guys that are kind of been you know you just you’re just left with an understanding at one point Nick cousins scor the game winning overtime goal to send us to the conference final so it’s there I got two good players as you as you mentioned the depth is strong and then you have to use it you have to utilize it so both guys will come in with fresh legs I didn’t want to do it um unless there was a reason for it but I’ve been looking for a while to get them back in and you guys have another chance at a close out back here in Boston and the road teams have had a lot of success here over the course of the series what what kind of game you want to see the guys get to here especially early in the game tonight with another chance to close it out I I don’t want to play based on the result I mean we certainly want to win this game and we have to play game seven we want to win game sevens we’ve always talked about preparing for seven games in a series uh the most important thing is that we look a certain way and that our for check does get established and we do have some Zone time and our gaps are confident and hard and that would probably be the thing that I I did not feel was true of our team we did things in our game that forced our Gap to be hesitant and we’ve got to lead that so once that comes out of the game we play the game we’re capable of playing it doesn’t guarant to a result but there’s nothing year for fors linging one of the most underrated best defenseman in the NHL but the more that he’s getting put on the center stage the more and more recognition this guy is going to get it is hard to look the P past his defensive Acumen and jumping up in the play tonight Doug also he was monter is the guy that normally does it poring was most notable in that area he took an opportunity late and that’s where I said you can’t be afraid to take chances uh to get up there and forsing recognized okay we got a break out we got some numbers three and he just continued all the way to the net londell let that shot go and it was on the right side of of swan if you can shoot on Swan shoot to the blocker side because if it goes to the Go Side we’ve seen it’s a black hole it doesn’t come out on the blocker side he has no choice and that’s hits the blocker there’s a rebound and forsling able to find it Go short side and that ends up being the game winning goal for the Panthers and they’re going to move on to play the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final and that is folks that is going to be uh fun for the whole family well the Panthers get it done tonight 2-1 they top the Bruins in game six for the second straight season as Billy mentioned not only do the Panthers in Boston season but they bounce the Boston Bruins in TD Garden for the second straight season we got a good day deliver awesome awesome awesome awesome and Swan gets a big crowd and what a series for Jeremy Swan congratulations to him yeah Jeremy Swan hey credit where it’s due Boston comes up short in this series but their goal tender was outstanding and Billy you talk about what happens in the playoffs too you mentioned this is where kind of stars are born and if Gus forsing wasn’t getting the credit he deserved already he certainly getting it now and if there’s one thing you learned over on the Boston side in these playoffs it’s that Jeremy Swan’s the guy probably for the better part of the next decade yeah so uh again this is where playoffs and we saw some great performances on both sides and give it give credit to the team on the other side it’s a great for for giving us a heck of a series and nothing what you expect nothing to hang your heads over on the Boston side they played a really hard seven game series against Toronto and Panthers were part of this series winning in six games comes down to what the Panthers were able to do in short notice against Tampa Bay that five-game series and because of that that that rest paid off in that that middle swing where the Panthers were able to win those those three games be the better team put Boston behind and these last three games were atypical of what we thought this series would be kind of on that equal footing all all close one goal games and the Panthers are good in these type of games they live for it Thrive for it and it goes back to the confidence they gained last year in these typ the overtime the pressure uh they seem comfortable when it gets there and Gustaf poring ends up being the hero tonight don’t forget about that shot block by Alexander barov on the penalty kill uh bosi is dead right there I hate to say it posx locked and loaded for a one-time right from where he want wants it one of the best one-timers in the game and barkov’s able to slide out and get a piece of it with with his right leg like he’s
