Apparently the Capitals are buying Capfriendly?

Article available through the link.

Seems like it will be up through the entry draft, then all teams who had a license to use their API will have that right revoked. Can't imagine they'll keep it public after that.

God damn it.

Edit: Article confirms after the transaction the Web site will go dark.

  2. Smart move in their part. This way it’ll be harder for everyone to see how fucked their team is, and it won’t be as embarrassing when the team goes broke and can’t spend to the cap after Ovechkin hangs ‘em up.

It will be replaced in 10 minutes by a new site.

Makes sense. It was always either going to be them buying it, or Friendly’s buying it.

Not really sure why this is coming as a surprise to you guys

Hopefully Puckpedia expands that portion of their site because this creates a massive information gap for fans. They’ve already got a good start – if I were them I’d start devoting most of my time and energy to it right now.

They’ll have plenty more room if Ovechkin keeps up his support for a newly avowed enemy of the US. That can’t be good for the old work permit/Visa.

There will be a replacement before it’s even gone
