  1. Hey, everyone, I’m headed overseas tonight for a weeklong vacation. It’s to visit extended family in Serbia. It’s the first time this show’s ever taken a break since inception in 2020, but … yeah, family first. The next Daily Shots of Steelers, Penguins and Pirates will come Tuesday, June 18. THANK YOU SO MUCH for making these podcasts what they’ve become! – Dejan

  2. Dubas walked into an awful situation and a mess Hextall left. Not much he could really do. From here on out I think we can really judge who he is! How he retools this team and builds it for the future

  3. There is no secret to success in the NHL. 1. Strong goaltending 2. 2 superstars 3. The rest of the team under 25. Thats it not very challenging

  4. DK: spot on, Dubas must continue to reload without selling out the future–keep 1st round picks and stock solid prospects for when the 35+ crew retires.

  5. When Dubas was in Toronto what he did was be okay with being bad for a couple of years…loaded up on draft picks and young players….then used them to get trades and hope some of them would turn out well (most didn't).
I've commented before that he is following the same MO he had in Toronto here, re signings, trades and guys he brings in…..My lack of faith is once he got all those he didn't ever seem to make the right move. In getting goalies, in getting bottom 4 d-men and in getting bottom 6 players (Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Tavares were already there). I really want them to win with Sid, I've never had faith in this guy being able to do that. If you spend a day just following the Toronto media and fan base, and you see the chronology of responses….at the beginning there is hope and high regard of him, and over time let down over let down and by the end all those draft pics and young players haven't worked out and the system is wiped clean for trades that never panned out.
I hope this doesn't sacrifice Sid's last few years.

    Have a great trip DK!!

  6. You know when people want to be precious with a first round pick, my mind goes to Jim Rutherford. Kyle Dubas has shown himself to be near Ron Hextall levels of bad. Sid is still an elite player. The time is now. Boston for how precious they treated their firsts won 1 Stanley Cup. I'll take the Rutherford approach, given a GM who you can trust to evaluate talent.

  7. Have a great vacation DK! Don't forget to tune in for Euro24, although my guess would be that you're not exactly a soccer fan 😉
