On this day in 1971, the Habs selected Guy Lafleur from Thurso, QC with the first overall pick at the NHL Draft held in Montreal. In his final junior year with the Quebec Remparts, Lafleur scored 130 goals & 79 assists for 209 points in 62 games (!) to win the Memorial Cup.
