I’ve seen this floated around recently am I’m split between us grabbing him being woefully irresponsible and it being the most hilarious thing we could do.

Immediately disregard this article. When discussing trading Karlsson he says “(Karlsson) isn’t what he use to be”

Mf what? He just had one of his best seasons ever stfu.

Oh, and we already traded Edstrom. So that’s not happening.

I have a hard time imagining Marner helping this team. I think he’s an incredible player and one of the best passers in the entire league, but he doesn’t really solve any of our issues.

This team tends to struggle getting into the center. Marner tends to prefer the perimeter. This team doesn’t have a high end goal scorer. Marner tends to be reluctant to shoot.

He’s frankly a more of what we already have, albeit at a higher level. But still.

And if they do this, Marchy is walking for free. So I’m going to say, no, probably not.

Salary cap aside, I think there’s another reason why VGK would probably distance themselves from Marner: his agent.

The front office has built a culture in this town that nobody and their agent is more important than the organization. An agent who will not be named is all but blacklisted by the VGK and hasn’t had a client on the team since the Summer of 22. The McManagers proved they did not need them in order to win, and I doubt that is going to change soon.

How does this relate to Marner? While listening in to the discussions of Leafs fans, Marner’s agent, Dan Ferris, repeatedly gets mentioned as someone who was a massive pain in the ass during contract negotiations. Immediately after Matthews signed in 2019, Ferris went to the media to call out the team and say they had “lowballed his client”. Now, in 2024, there’s rumblings that Marner & his camp want to “win” whatever situation they are in and don’t want to look “bad” in the court of public opinion.

I just don’t see VGK taking on this headache. It goes against the philosophy they’ve built over the years, and while Marner is an incredible player, the VGK have shown that they are very selective of who actually gets to play on this team, and they have no problem ridding themselves of good players.

Keep all the Toronto princesses in Toronto, absolute hand grenade contracts, can’t put a deep play off run together for a reason

Does this person consider the cap on the other side? With Howden as our third line center and Brisson on his wing…we are still missing a 2LW & 3LW with 2.7m to spend. This trade doesn’t work unless there is salary retained or they are dropping some dmen too. Not worth it. If they are going for an elite winger, I’d rather have Guentzal. Cheaper and better.

I’m just imagining playoffs with Mitch Marner. Petro is breaking someone’s nose in the corner, Kolesar is caving in sternums, Cassidy is screaming at guys. And then Mitch is just on the bench shaking and crying

The guy who completely vanishes during the playoffs? No thanks

Hello Knights fans from your Canadian brothers in Roman-themed apparel in Ottawa. Belated congrats on the cup to my favourite American team, and 6th favourite team after Ottawa, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Calgary. I even own one of your hats, which I bought during your 1st season.

We are looking for a goalie. I personally like Logan Thompson, could he be available in trade? I prefer a young-ish goalie like Thompson over vets that are at or past their peak, the usual names Markstrom, Ullmark, and Saros.

I thought the Knights might trade Thompson to get a player / picks, instead of losing him as a UFA in 1 year. No team makes more efficient use of assets than Vegas.

You’d think Thompson wants a chance to be a true #1, he has to move, since Hill won the cup, is very good, and is signed long-term.

If so, what would you look for in a trade return?

Using this thread, as you don’t appear to have a dedicated trade thread.

i’m sorry but there’s no way in hell we’re trading karly and lt, i still believe that they’re trying to keep marchy so i doubt they’d take someone as big as marner right now

  12. AcceptableAgent31

Slow news day I guess, he’s not going to Vegas. We all can move on. We don’t want him either.

  13. Mitch marner would be even worse than Tatar was for this team. Good player, but not the right team for him. Also he has a shitty ego and so does his entire entourage, agents etc
