Flames are dreaming with the price tag they have on Markstrom. I guess you never know with goalies but I'd be shocked if he fetched them more than a 2nd round pick and a B tier prospect. I could see the Devils offering a 3rd and Holtz and the Flames taking it. The price tag on Markstrom is what I'd expect Saros to fetch if Nashville ends up moving him

More gambling promotion thanks grav I think we all wanted to see that… I rlly can’t hear this shi no more imagine promoting gambling to mainly kids and gambling addicts… it isn’t alcohol it’s at anyone’s finger tips on ur phone any person taking money from these ppl to promote it are just as degenerate. Used to like u man. Also ik for a fact u don’t like all the gambling ads the NHL promotes so why push it on the ppl who make ur career.

Ottawa needs to focus on the dcore before getting a big name goalie otherwise its going to look horrible again. Half the dcore is terrible and makes so many major mistakes run it back with Korpisalo and focus on the dcore and Korpisalo can be good enough. I just dont get how the Sens keep thinking throwing the bag at a goalie with garbage in front of him will age well and ever look good. Just trying to fast track the rebuild I guess
No shot the Flames get the 10th straight up 1 for 1. And no shot they get a 1st and a top prospect from anyone. They can keep him for that price.

Ottawa needs to step up its very simple 7th overall pick for Markstrom straight up DONE.. Now you all say Flames fans delusional blah blah blah well guess what you can find another goalie and good luck because straight up you pass on Markstrom you will miss playoffs again next year and Tkachuk will leave he will pull an Eichel.. Get it done Sens and try to add Stamkos free agent!! Step up show your serious and make a move!! Before its too late
Markstrom is a fantastic goaltender as long as he has a team in front of him. Biggest downside for him is his age. Sens won’t win him a cup but New Jersey devils definitely could
The only 2 teams I'd see being that desperate to be willing to pay a 1rst and a high end prospect would be TOR or NJD. TOR could make the move and push for it if somehow they keep Marner for his last year, but they still have Woll that showed flashes of really good games, so even then it would be wierd to overpay for Markstrom.
For the NJD, they absolutly need a goalie if they want to be anything, but they are not really in a rush either so I don't think they would overpay.
So for that price, with Ullmark and Saros on the market too, Calgary is just asking crazy ahah
Devils: Markstrom (50% retained Chicago) Anthanasiou( 50% retained Chicago)
Flames: #34 #50 #75 and a future 2nd
Blackhawks: #10
What Grav and many of the people in the comment section fail to realize is the term. Markstrom has 2 years left on his contract.
Some would trade a 1st round pick or prospect at the trade deadline for 2-3 months of his services.
2 assets is not a far cry from 2 years worth of Vezina level goaltending.
The ask is crazy but when they have 3-5 teams disparate for a good goalie why not ask for the moon and see where it goes…..
Markstrom’s not worth the #10. If the Devils do give that up, Calgary better retain 50%, plus include a roster player. We’ll take Sharangovich back as well 🙂
If that’s the price, good lord the Devils need to stay away. I’d rather they look elsewhere (either Ulmark or Saros). I’d even prefer they keep the pick and sign Talbot for 1 year. Markstrom alone isn’t worth 10th OA.

For the Leafs, having only two seasons of Markstrom is not a problem. The Leafs need to win, and soon, or else they will have to start a significant retooling of their roster, maybe only keeping Matthews and some of the kids, and saying goodbye to all of the rest of their Big 5.
The problem for the Leafs is that they haven’t asked Marner for a list of teams he would be willing to waive for. If they don’t have Marner’s Cap hit, they can do a lot of tinkering around the edges of the roster, including adding a new 1A goalie. If they keep Marner, they are significantly more restricted in their options.
I don’t think everyone understands supply and demand for goalies especially good ones for contending teams.Nj will pay a high price because they can’t afford to be bad again.
Markstrom is worth more than just the 10th overall pick. Idk about a top prospect on top, but somewhere in between.
As a Devs fan I would much rather trade that pick in a package for Ullmark or Saros.. And if it comes down to a deal with the Flames would want another asset like Coleman to give the Devs more grit. (but holds a heavy contract)

If I was the Devils, Id do the 10th for Markstrom straight up, no adds. Other teams with lower picks would have to sweeten. Devils need Markstrom more than another first round pick.
What about Markstrom and 28th for Holtz and 10th?

I really believe that if the Devils would do #10 OA straight up, this would be done. I think it is fairly likely that the information in the above article is being conflated and/or (hopefully not) sensationalized.
As an example: the price for the Leafs could be a first and a top prospect because their pick is @ #23 OA and has far less value than a top ten pick in this draft. That makes some sense, but in the case of Ottawa, I am fairly confident #7 OA would get it done even quicker than #10.
Just my opinion.
There’s so much controversy on what Markstrom’s going to get in return. There’s always arguments between Flames and Devils fans. Flames fan think Markstrom is worth the 10oa pick and Devils fans think he’s worth at most a second and a b list prospect.
I hope the Ducks are talking with NJ. Gibson deserves a few shots at a cup before he is too old. He is just floundering in Anaheim while the re-build continues. He is a lot better than what he has shown in Anaheim the past few years.

How about the devils just sign khakonen to a 1 year prove it deal and spend all their money on a LH Defenseman and a top six/bottom six guy. Hey look we did it!
If Calgary traded Markstrom, their 28th overall pick, and someone like Martin Pospisil or Andrew Mangiapani (50% salary retained for the final year) for Jersey's 10th overall pick and a mid prospect it wouldn't be terrible for either side. We know Markstrom's age but there's probably a good chance he resigns in NJ (if they want him) and they could get 4-5 very good years. Players age differently and Markstrom is an athletic freak, so I don't see him declining the way some other goaltenders might. Jersey is in win-now mode so how quickly the 10th overall pick would even be on their team (let alone a difference-maker) is debatable.

I think it's legitimately insane to think the flames end up getting a top 10 pick and a prospect straight up for Markstrom. Like it's barely worth a conversation. The flames will have to add. Like I think Markstrom and a second or third is where the conversation begins for 10th. I'm a flames fan, I'd think fitzgerald should be weighting up resumes and handing them in to mcdonalds if he even considers adding like that.

Ughhh, Staios has absolutely zero leverage and in no position of power. Any GM can just take him to the bleachers considering how desperate it seems they are in getting a goalie. Just please, for the love of all that’s good, I hope they don’t trade that 7th overall for a freaking goalie. I will legit stop being a fan of this team if they end up pissing away yet ANOTHER first rounder and then have to forfeit one by either next year or the year after.
