STUART SKINNER IS BLOWING MY MIND… HE’S PULLING IT OFF (Edmonton Oilers VS Dallas Stars)

[Music] steuart Skinner Take a Bow Man take a big freaking bow because off the heels of a stellar steuart Skinner performance in game number five the Dallas Stars oh boy they’re on the ropes the Edmonton Oilers are leading this Western Conference Final series 3-2 with a 3 to1 Victory here in game five now we can talk about the goals we can talk about the power play we can talk about the points we can talk about all these things I just wanted to focus on The Narrative of everything combined as well as talk a little bit more about that Skinner angle because while it is true I am the biggest Oilers hater out there because of my affinities to the Vancouver kaks and we did make a video going out there talking about the Oilers in their drama from earlier today because of Jason Gregor’s tweet at Kevin bxa there still is a lot of good going on here I may be the biggest Oilers hater in the world but I did predict them to beat the stars in seven in our pre-series review video if you remember that I did say yeah even though I could see this going either way would probably see the Oilers winning it in seven but now they have a chance with game six at home in Edmonton to take this series at home in six games and advance to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in whoever knows how many years it’s been okay I kind of could Google that but I’m lazy right now so let’s talk about this game here 3 to1 is the final score the Dallas Stars admittedly they didn’t really get much offense going throughout the first 40 minutes of the game they had like six shots in the first 30 minutes or so of game time they just really did not show up in this one almost in a Vancouver Canucks kind of fashion where in game six and seven of the Vancouver Edmonton series the kak just did not play until the very end when the Oilers had the lead and they were just trying to hold on the Dallas star scored a goal to bring it within two but that was it that’s all she wrote for Wyatt Johnston very nice redirect tipin goal in front so not really something that I think Skinner could say that he should have had but other than that goal going in steuart Skinner was phenomenal in this game especially when he needed to be towards the ending parts of that third period the Dallas Stars started to get consistent pressure they started to the puck more and as Jason Robertson had said in the post game of one of the games earlier this week once he realized that Stewart Skinner was letting in some of these goals just shoot shoot shoot that’s the way to get it done and that’s how he had scored a hattick earlier in the series so of course that is not the ideal result for Edmonton this on the other hand very much is and when it comes to the goals that Jake tinger L up look I don’t want to say that tinger has been bad this series at all but there is is a very strange difference when AER plays at home versus on the road they did talk about this on the broadcast quite a lot some of the goals that went in I mean one-time tapin on the side the nent Hopkins power play special like he had scored against the Vancouver Canucks in game seven while it’s true the Dallas Stars only mustered up six shots in the first however many minutes of the game and they only scored one goal I don’t want to say that Jake Ginger was his best in this game and the Oilers definitely did their part in taking advantage of that steuart Skinner on the other hand hey when was the last time we said this that Skinner literally outplayed Jake otinger in a super important Stanley Cup playoff game okay probably hasn’t happened before because none of these guys played off against each other but still you get what I mean this is just a crazy Showcase from Stuart Skinner even the goals that didn’t go in the tips out in front the one-timers in the slot the back door cross creases Skinner coming out with the pads to get them away this dude was on fire in a way that we just did not know was really possible this is the Skinner that got the shut out against LA right this is the Skinner that showed up when the Oilers won all those games in a row to get back in the playoff race and force themselves into the standings of the Pacific has that Skinner fully awakened kind of feels like it and with now one game left one win left for the Oilers before reaching the Stanley Cup finals you can’t help but fully believe in this dude I mean the Oilers with the big comeback in game number four to seal the deal and take it 52 after being down to nothing what a statement game for Edmonton they come back over to Dallas they have this game on the road and they look so good they just control the play they cloged the Stars offense the Stars had nothing in this game and when they did have stuff Calvin picker be damned it was steuart Skinner’s net tonight just doing what he needed to do and at this point when you think about the implications of how everything goes the Oilers are one win away from making the Stanley Cup Final even if they lose at the very least that is the McDavid and dry cidal Legacy put in the stone with a run like this of course we have to recognize at the NHL there’s a lot more parity nowadays than there were when the Oilers were with the Gretzky days when Messier was the captain etc etc so many newer teams and very inferior opponents and a lot of topheavy guys throughout the lineups here the Oilers are following a similar mold I’d say with this year’s team of course you have McDavid dry Sidle Heyman NJ all guys that are capable of getting either 50 goals or 100 points or in some cases both Evan Bard is still going out there and doing his thing two assists on the night two with NJ giving his special two goal performance I mean this certainly is a team that if you want to talk about depth that’s like the only area of weakness but at this point the top guys are starting to perform like top guys or goendale goalie and that’s all you need to go on a run right you have a few hiccups in the road but guess what against Vancouver down 3-2 you come back you control the play you adjust you change your defensive strategy you break up nurse and CC and things look great you shut them down for game six and you destroy them in game seven now you’re in the third round and you have a 3-2 lead against a Dallas Stars team that a lot of people said were Stanley Cup favor now sure the Oilers were considered favorites by many as well but still with the turmoil that this Oilers team has gone through it’s kind of difficult to not look at this story and not acknowledge just how good it really is as for the Dallas Stars I’ve seen a lot of fans saying hey the stars are always finding themselves down in big game moments they always lose game one they always find ways to string together multiple wins and that’s what they need here if they want to come back we know it’s not impossible literally the Edmonton Oilers just did that against the Vancouver Canucks last round so if the Oilers want to get a taste of their own medicine then hey maybe they choke the next two games and end up getting themselves the big bad L but of course that’s only a Stars fans dream at this point maybe other fans of the league too if you don’t like the Oilers but either way if you’re a fan of Edmonton or Dallas let me know your thoughts in the comments section below about this game we didn’t even go over the crazy stats we didn’t go over Evan Bard and how his assists have been record setting really for how fast he’s able to go out there and get playoff points and assists we didn’t even talk about Philip broberg he went into the lineup and he scored a goal Chris noblock with an absolute ballsy decision to make the biggest lineup change on the eve of game five it pays off broberg is back in the spotlight baby but you know that’s not the biggest story I thought we could talk about the biggest story is the fact that steuart Skinner had an answer in a game where the Oilers were the better team but in a game where the stars still had a few really good chances Skinner was great and I do not think I would have been able to say that a year ago for example or even like two weeks ago when the Canucks were still playing and Skinner was pulled and Pickard was in and Pickard was getting starts what a good comeback story right thoughts in the comments section below if you’re a fan of either of these two teams what are your thoughts on how things are going to go in game six and potentially game seven do the stars pull off their comeback magic and get this back over to Dallas or does Edmonton cement their spot in the Stanley Cup Final and we have ourselves a Florida Edmonton battle or a New York Edmonton battle lots of good narratives to come out of those two matchups but for now let me know your thoughts in the comments section below I hope you enjoyed this v as roll9 and bye [Music] [Music]

  1. Imagine if they win the Cup? Only one goalie in the history of the game has won a Cup with a save % below .890 and that was Grant Fuhr in '88. And I think it's safe to say he had a better Oiler's team in front of him.

  2. before the start of the season i said the canadian curse was getting broken this year and the oilers are making my hopes a little closer to reality

  3. Where is the big Dallas advantage in depth. There’s been an advantage in depth, and it belongs to the Oilers.

  4. You're still talking about Oiler's lack of depth? Their PK is a lot of the 3rd and 4th line guys and they're currently on a 25 kill streak. That's worth a nuke… Plus the shorty last game. They are all playing extremely well. Meanwhile, where is the supposed Dallas depth that can get goals from any line. They only have 7 different goal scorers in this series.

  5. Edmonton has more scorer’s than Dallas which I thought was there strength 10-6 different players 10 being Oil.

  6. Nahhhhh depth isnt an issue for the oilers anymore. They arent loud, but they get the job done cleanly. Theres a reason why so many games the opposing teams dont get a lot of shots in till later in the games and thats cuz the defence of both defencemen and offence keep holding them out of our zone. Most offence want 1st line elite scoring, 2nd line good scoring, 3rd line fast scrappy scoring and 4th line crash the net scoring. The oilers are 1st line elite scoring, 2nd line elite scoring, 3rd line good defensive two way, 4th line good defensice two way.

  7. The Edmonton Oilers win 3-1 in Dallas’s barn!

Only 5 more wins needed to win the Stanley Cup trophy 🏆!

Next match Sunday night in the Alberta capital is going to be bonkers!!! 🏒💥

  8. Oilers fans know how good Skinner can be, but its frustrating to watch him when he gets cold because when he is cold he is ice cold

  9. What's funny is how Canuck fans wouldn't listen to us when we tried to tell them about his 12 game winning streak where he allowed two goals or less in each game. This is what he looks like when he's on. The problem – he may be the best technical goalie in the NHL – or one of them. Demko isn't. Fleury is the worst. How do you tell? How many unbelievable saves do they make when they are out of position? A solid techincal goalie is almost never out of position, so in those same situations they make more a routine save and fans think they are not good. It's actually the opposite.

  10. I believe Otter played his best. All 3 goals were impossible saves. The 1st is a rebound the 2nd was a snipe post in. Otter didn't even react to the shot until it passed him and the 3fd he was screened and was guessing where it might go.

  11. When the Oilers win the cup, who will win the Conn Smythe? 4 legitimate options in Mcdavid, Draisaitl, Nuge, and Bouchard

  12. We talk about Depth being one of the biggest weaknesses to Edmonton but after seeing how good their lines are getting more and more offseason. For crying out loud Yanmark and Brown just scored a shorty. Think their "depth'" is improving as playoffs go on.

  13. Oilers just need Canada support and we keep praying and hoping they will win and bring the cup home back to Canada where it belongs

  14. Also Jake Oettinger faces McDavid, Draisatl, Hopkins, Hyman, Ekholm, Bouchard, Kulak, Kane, .. the list goes on with scoring talent.
