If the price is Matheson you absolutely do it and laugh while running away with Necas
If for Matheson then Yes would do this in a heartbeat.
Matheson isn't enough for Necas. Have to add in a 1st plus a good prospect.
I would consider it for sure, but if we want to move up in the ranking and make the playoffs , then we need to keep core players . He is a leader in the room and we need playerls like him to help out with the kids.
With Dundon in charge, forget the trade. Frat bro has already told everyone his GM is a puppet. And he hates us. I'd be extremely surprised if any calls from Montreal had gone through since Waddell left.
Matheson would bring the Canes closer to a cup.
There is no chance that the hurricanes are going to trade Martin necas to Montreal cause both ownership have beef with each other
All of the projected trades I see for Necas are just out to lunch. This is a guy who's had 1 70 point year and it wasn't this year. He took a step back in his development. He's not under contract, and he apparently has a very high opinion of himself so he wants top 6 minutes, and powerplay time, and is looking to get 7.5 + per season. I'm sorry this player shouldn't be worth anything. Drama, down year, not under contract. Negative, negative, negative. You don't get a star player for that guy. You get a project for that guy if you are lucky.
if we keep trading away players that produce well we'll never make progress, we have to wait till the deadline to see if we trade matheson, otherwise we'll never get closer to the playoffs
after watching this, if we draft a dman to replace matheson i wouldnt mind trading him for necas, but i would want a little more in return than just necas, maybe a kk in the package
Bloody hell man!, would you just get to the point?!?!?!
3 minutes and still haven’t spit it out!…..
Is Necas that good? He scored 9 more points than Matheson in each of their best offensive years. Matheson is ranked 9th in points by a defenseman. Necas is ranked 108th in points by a forward. There are other qualities, but if we want to maximize our offensive output, keep the 9th ranked defender, draft a high scoring forward to make up for Necas' 53 points (which, by the way is less than Drouin had this year and roughly the same as Drouin has had consistently in full seasons in TB and MTL). Do we really expect Necas to be better? Maybe, but why trade a top 10 offensive defenseman for a maybe? Let's just re-sign Drouin if we want someone who scores 55 pts. This would be a steal for Carolina. They would use him in more minutes if he was better.
Nah, Montreal is only lukewarm on this guy. I doubt this goes anywhere with the Habs.
I think last year all of the sites were saying the same thing about Pierre-Luc Dubois. He was the player the Habs had to trade for!
It would hurt considering what Matheson brings to the team, the young players and the community. Considering his contract, Carolina would be idiots. It to take him. For the owner of the Hurricanes to hold old grudges over a lteade that would push their team closer to the Stanley Cup finals would be ridiculous and selfish.
Im not in a hurry to trade away mike but if necas is the return i dont have anything to complain about then you can select iginla or sennecke suring up your first two lines or parekh and solidifying your back end for the next 10 years. It seems like a win win to me
Necas seems so over-rated to me. I doubt he will fetch a ton in a trade because he's going to want to be paid, there is a reason why the canes don't want to resign him even with genzel likely to leave.
I'm totally okay with trading Matheson for Necas and to clear any bad blood remaining between teams I'm even willing to take KK off their hands to see what he can do under St-Louis.
