  1. The wings had their problems but I still watched most of their games last year. They won't be serious contenders any time soon. I'm fine with that. Been watching them for 3 decades. I knew one day they'd have to rebuild. Can't wait for October.

  2. What worries me is the Wings are already starting to run low on cap space but still have a lot of holes at almost every position (top 6, defensemen, goalie). Bad contracts could come back to bite them if Yzerman doesn’t get rid of some of them in the offseason. Better hope these prospects work out.

  3. Its highly likely they regress next season, unless they pull some big moves. Complicating it is they won't have the cap space for big moves without other moves first. I fully expect this to be a more transitional season as youth get moved up. There are several that should be able to make the transition this coming season, and it will help the Wings with the cap as well. I hope we don't lose Ghost and Kane, but we easily could and that's 100 points gone with no clear cut addition.

  4. This last jump to playoff contenders from fringe playoff team is usually a hard one. Prospect wise it would probably take till the 25/26 year for some of them to join. By that time a lot of those bad additions would be off the books or easier to move since it will be their last year on contract. I think a win for Detroit would be to come out around that 91 point range again this season. Maybe squeak into the playoffs. Luckily the bad contracts yzerman signed were not terribly long
