Friedman on Jeff Marek Show: I think Canucks are conceding on signing Lindholm. I think they are moving on. They would love to get Guentzel, it won’t be easy and it won’t be impossible… Do I think they are looking into it? Absolutely.

*If* Vancouver is able to sign Guentzel, I’ve got to imagine they’re going to need to make tough decisions elsewhere on the roster.

    – Is Conor Garland moved at the draft perhaps to clear up cap-space for Guentzel and recoup some draft capital?

    – Does Allvin find a way to move off of Mikheyev with minimal pain?

    – Will Vancouver possibly shop Boeser this offseason to bring in assets, and open space for UFA’s?

    – Is a guy like Soucy perhaps made available free up space to make room for Zadorov/Guentzel?

    – Do they find a way to move off of Tucker Poolmans contract?

*If* they can land Guentzel, tough decisions are going to need to be made to make it happen. But it would be worth it.

  2. I knew this was likely, but I really liked Lindholm. Was hoping our gorgeous city and embarrassment of riches in terms of Swedish players would be enough for him to take a sweetheart deal.

well, i guess someone will be foolish and give lindholm 8.5m+, which would be a huge mistake

at least it seems like our management is smart enough to not get burned on overpriced contracts for once?

Hronek and a 2025 2nd rd pick for Guentzels rights? Maybe with a contract in place already.

And so, when Lindholm’s wife posted that video, it did end up being foreshadowing.

I like Lindholm, but with the Canucks cap structure and need to plug other holes, dude was going to be a rental.

So what do “negotiating rights” entail again? His agent is legally bound to not even get a sniff of what another team would offer Lindholm, right? They are not allowed to hear competitive offers.

So come July 1, he could very well not get what he thinks he’s worth. It’s not like he already knows what some other team will sign him at, right?
