Why can’t the Oilers score?

The Oilers have managed to score just one goal in the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final and have hit a wall in Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. TSN Hockey analyst Cheryl Pounder analyzes why Edmonton can’t score.

  1. It’s clearly rigged. The nhl as a business can’t/wont afford for Americans to lose interest in hockey as a form of entertainment, so it’s critical that an American based team win every year. They know Canadians will always watch on tv and go to games no matter what.

  2. The question that forms the title of the TSN video is right on the money for the Oilers. After just 1 goal over 2 games in that Cup final these Oilers are running out of games to get their offence going against the Panthers. Win game 3 and there's a whole new series but lose the same game, and the Panthers are likely to win game 4 or 5 and thus this month hoist a Stanley Cup.

  3. Leslie Nielsen might as well pop out of the grave, walk up to Draisaitl and McDavid and say "Good luck, we're all counting on you."

  4. The Panthers are allowing Bobrovsky to see all the shots.
Shooting through traffic for screens and deflections is the only way to beat a hot goalie.

  5. Because the Panthers are playing like your average playoff team from 10-15 years ago. They defend well and their goalie is solid.

  6. Edmonton are in the finale so they are one of the 2 best teams in the world. The only reason they are not in the lead is that Florida is also one of the 2 best teams in the world.

  7. Panthers have a better defensive system and goalkeeper. Oilers' forwards are lazy and don't forecheck or come back urgently enough to help out their D and their goalkeeper.

  8. Because the Oilers have to worry about McRodrigues . He is the leading scorer in this series. They just don't have an answer for him.

  9. I thought there was going to be a game tonight. Oilers are screwed. Bettman planned this. He knows it's Oilers tradition to forget how to play hockey after any sort of break. This extra day off totally f'd the Oilers.
