Two Cole’s in Montreal? Demidov Worth the Risk, Iginla Rises Past Lindstrom? | Habsolutely Podcast

Montreal Canadiens took Cole Eiserman for dinner at draft combine, Habs will draft Ivan Demidov if he is available at 5th overall in NHL Entry Draft. Jason Bukala of Sportsnet has Tij Iginla ranked several spots above Cayden Lindstrom for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

  1. Everybody is trying to determine who Montreal should be drafting…I am sure Hughes already knows pretty well "right now" who he wants to draft…the only question is: is that prospect still going to be available at 5th when they will all get on the podium !!!

  2. The thing is, how MUCH better Demidov is to take the risk ? I would prefer the Habs select a safer pick at rank #5. If the pick was like #13, ok. There are interesting players that will still be available. The interrogation with Demidov is when would he come, if he comes, can he decide to stay in KHL Russia, the MHL league caliber seems to be similar to the Q, so it makes it difficult to compare with other players, I think he was injured… ? Is he CLEARLY better? JUST FOR EXAMPLE, a player like Dickinson, playing in the best league OHL, it is easier to compare with other players, not injured, good size, a good organisation like the Knights, the Habs could trade another defensemen for a forward if they draft him.

  3. Eiserman could be a steal if taken in the teens. If we could trade up from #26 to get him in addition to Lindstrom/Demidov or Iginla at #5 would be awesome for the Habs.

  4. I am done talking about the 5th pick, no matter what we will get an example young lad. What I want to find out is what other moves are going to be made at the draft to speed up this rebuild? I want to see the Habs walk out with two solide offensive draft picks in the top 12.
