First and foremost, I will not be comparing the 94 team to anyone in this post.
For lack of Rangers on the television, I finally decided to unpack the boxes of NY sports memorabilia my dad left to me when he died in March 2021. Guy was the biggest Rangers fan on earth. Grew up in eastern Long Island and spent his late teens and early 20s watching the Islanders win 4 cups. Nah, he was a Rangers fan. My first memory growing up is him coming home black out drunk screaming ‘we are the champions’ at 2am after game 7. The next memories are all of me crying when I wasn’t allowed to stay up for the 3rd period of regular season games in the let-down-late 90s as we called them.
I digress. I found every newspaper published about the Rangers for several weeks around the ‘94 cup. So here are the highlights. Post recs for preserving them if ya got it!
But for the record, father would have been writing Matt Rempe in on his 2024 presidential ballot if he were alive to do it.

That’s sick. My dad passed 15 years ago but we have some framed newspapers and such like that he saved. The “We Will Win Tonight” one is included
My best friend and his dad are Islanders fans but his dad is a big time collector of things, in particular things he thinks will be culturally/historically significant. One day about 10 years ago, I was at their house and he dropped a folder on the table in front of me. In it were newspaper clippings from the 94 Cup win and a copy of that months Sports Illustrated that covered the Cup win. Told me I could have it.
