The Vancouver Canucks have just lost to the Colorado Avalanche in a stunning 5-4 decision in overtime, in what was supposed to be a celebratory night for the Canucks, wearing their classic 90’s black, red, and yellow skate jerseys. Nathan MacKinnon, Nazem Kadri, and Cale Makar all went off on the retro-inspired team, but the Canucks bit back, with two goals from Adam Gaudette, two assists from Quinn Hughes to tie the game, and a Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson duo that got it done to send the game to overtime. Ultimately though, Antoine Bibeau takes the win in the goaltending department over Thatcher Demko, with Nathan MacKinnon sealing the deal quickly in overtime.

What a great game Hughes vs Makar was great to watch
Awesome game!!!!! Awesome reaction by you😁 I was wondering, do you think that the following roadtrip is crucial to the season? thanks again
sucks that we lost though
Do i look good in those retro jerseys?
I disagree that the Avs have the better core. Their 4 have more experience with skill. Minus Makar. I think Hughes is better. Makars numbers are pumped because the avs have the developed top players around him. Avs are better now. Just wait boys, this team will be scary good. Avs are win now and that's why it's easy to say that they are the better now. People forget how young our elite players are. Developed pete is better than nathan. Not faster but smarter.
Demko was shaky but give props for the comeback, and we are just giving to much space in the slot for mackinnon and the Avs. Thy had many good looks
Thanks Gio for the shoutout. I agree that Colorado’s core four is a bit better (albeit a bit older…and higher draft picks on average). I’ll be vlogging about it tomorrow. 👊
Avs fan. I love your channel and I’ve been watching for a while. Demko absolutely robbed us a few times. Bibeau filled in well for Grubauer/Francouz. Makar/Hughes were fucking awesome tonight. Above all else I just hope Calvert is all good
I just have a question? When was the last time Boeser teed one up from the circle. He needs to understand that there is always gonna be traffic in front, he just has to find his spot like he did in his rookie season. The PP is bad cuz he wouldn't shoot the puck when Hughes passes it to him for a perfect one timer.
Gaudette needs to be in the lineup every single game when he is healthy. IDK, maybe put Sutter and Beagle on the fourth with Schaller. But Gaudette is giving the Canucks a true scoring third line. They were by a mile the best line today for the Canucks. Green needs to just stick to something when it's working and not throw it all away after one bad game. He doesn't believe in having an of night. Every player and league has an off night.
Being there live was crazy, Tying it up late again, We got to cut Bo and Miller in OT. Seems to be bad luck or something.
Avalanche has the better core four no doubt. Mackinnon is maybe the best player in the league.
Don't get me wrong I like Demko, but in my opinion we would have won if marky was in net, Demko positioning wasn't very good today and that's what made him give up like 2 goals
He's doing Gaud!
Love the retro jerseys the Canucks wore, they should wear them every season, not just in their 50th. I agree with the cbc commentator who said they were beautiful
Boeser finally celebrated😅
I agree. That is why i picked Colorado ahead of the Canucks for this season. The Canucks core 4 are a little younger and a lot smaller, so maybe they will be more equal over time. When Colorado gets healthy again they are going to be Stanley cup favorites in my opinion. There isn't much between the two cores, but the rest of the team matters most. If all you have is a core 4 like the leafs are going to have in a couple years, your chances to win the cup are greatly reduced. I thought the leafs would be good this year due to the great contracts they picked up in the off season sans the Marner contract, but looks like the just can't play a decent defensive game and it is really hurting them now and will in the future. Sounds like the high paid coach is about to get fired soon, but it wouldn't change anything in the long run. This salary cap and the insane money these young players are demanding is going to force the successful G.M., s to go to the Islanders model of moderately good players, but more of them in order to win. I agree with Lou Lamoriello, that is the way to build a competitive team and do it year after year, even though you don't have the star power. Winning hockey fills the building more and provides extra revenue since they tend to make the playoffs and increases the bottom line. This insanity of paying players like Marner, Mathews, and Tavares is going to go by the wayside when managements see the success of teams like the Islanders. It is going to take a couple more seasons to get there so i hope the Canucks can benefit from that change when they have to sign Petterson and Hughes and Boeser when their contracts come due. In summary the concept of the core 4 really is anti team and should be ignored by G.M. 's that want to win. It takes a team to win a Stanley cup and that is what they all state as their ultimate goals is.
I'll pick the Canucks "core four" any day.
Although I was happy, when the Canucks scored, I think the play should've been stopped for the injured Av.
